Pretty sure this is the earliest in the day that Elemental has been #1 so far. I don't think it will be #1 in the end but this is cool.

So they might shift it to a smaller local Japanese distributor?

Not really but It's upto Universal. Because, at the first, they didn't consider releasing the film in Japan. When Nikkei interview a source at Toho-Towa, they said Universal hasn't licensed the screening rights. The ultimate authority is in Universal hands. My thought is that instead of some narrative push in SNS, Universal should consider releasing the film in Japan before it get too controversial here.

Strays and Renfield has screening rights sold to Toho-Towa (Universal/Paramount release their works through Toho-Towa via Towa Pictures). For Renfield, only release date remains undecided.

Very poor from Sand Land considering that it had by far the most shows…Elemental held the best out of the top 10

Poor Toriyama, I hope the videogame made for Sand Land at least will sell a bit better

Idk the first movie was lightning in a bottle due to COVID and the complete dominance it had with respect to seat counts. The manga is also nowhere near as popular as it was in 2019/20/21 either. I don't see how it comes close to the OG and honestly it won't need to to be considered a success since the first movie is one of, if not the strongest single territory record in the world.

well the manga has been over for 3 years so naturally it can't be as popular as when it was running at peak but the viewership for the anime is still monstrous and demon slayer is basically their star wars,a fantastically well made trilogy could do mega numbers, yeah it won't get the seating allocation that the first one did but that might just lead to far stronger legs
