Japan and Germany are both strange countries for producing box office nerds give the two countries are big. In this forums, we have members from all kinds of countries (even from small countries in Europe and Africa) but never see one from Japan or Germany.

I am not directly from Germany, but Austria is basically its little brother... probably a bit like USA and UK nowadays. ;)

Anyways i think in general there is not too much interest in boxoffice numbers here...

Conan 789.3M yen OW, +17.5% over last Conan movie

That is really impressive... two animated movies beyound 7.5M in one weekend.

Firedeep is right about the lack of German posters, and it's clearly not a linguistic barrier given they're among the best in English as a foreign language,so probably a lack of interest. We have French people here as well despite our pitiful English skills. :P

The left hand column is weekends yes?

I could see Frozen with the GW bump possibly holding better than SA did for weekends.

But man those midweeks were huge for spirited away...

There used to be two others, Pinocchio and Rudolf, but I haven't seen them around for a while. Edited by lab276

$19m but $43 million in today's rate exchange.that w 4 summer midweeks and a holiday week compared to 2 SB midweeks which I dont think are as movie going as summer. Thats worth 30m which it will capture most of during GW. SA weekends were bigger to start but frozen is about to make up ground there tooThe yen weekly cum totals are not matching dollars. Week 10 and 12 are off. Dollars make more sense there. Edited by mfantin65

Omni, 15 multiplier when summer was over at weekend 7

Actually, Spirited Away's performance is perfectly in line with my reasoning. Weekend 7 after summer is not comparable to weekend 9 after GW. After GW is over, Frozen will be on its 9th weekend. Spirited Away got a 10/11x from its 9th weekend, which is precisely what I'm expecting from Frozen. Even the SA monster lost some of its momentum after 2 months of release, it looks like it's structural. if you notice, weekend 8 and 9 were in line with the previous monstrous holds, but after that the run just became 'just' very solid.
