Every week frozen gives us at least one surprise up and one down. i think its because of omni, he has avery strong digestive karma thats affecting the box office :)Last friday was much stronger than the other days of the week after the tv promo. It should have been just 20% bigger than thursday like the week before @ 12000. In that case its up +11%

I guess the positive way to see this is Toho is only down -3% in admissions from friday 2 weeks previous. We have yet to witness a true drop.

Is may J more popular than Takako Matsu? I preferred the Takako's version to be honest.

 

Yeah like LABAS said, not even comparable. Takako Matsu is one of the A-list celebrities in Japan who comes from a high profile family of actors. She can act, sing and do theaters too. She has been in TV dramas and movies since early 1990s when she was still a teenager, and won awards for her acting and singing. I know this because she's one of my favorite actresses . Meanwhile, May J is relatively new and not even that popular. She's a good singer though, the one that is rarely found in Japan.

 

It looks like people there also prefer Takako Matsu. Her version of Let It Go is much more popular. Many of them wanted her on the show instead of May J. It would give a bigger impact for Frozen with Matsu. But it's still a great promotion so I don't really mind.

toho price surcharge for 3d is 400 yen, but a lot of discount 2d admissions could be replaced by 3d at maximum price, and more, +15% is from past week, but is only +10% from 2 week ago

It seems that reviving older successful franchises that had a conclusion isn't very popular. Interest seems to really die off once a film series has a "final" film. Continuing where the last film left off seems alright though as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides saw a reasonable 19% drop from Pirates 3 and 11% drop from Pirates 2.
