Incredible!!!

$25.52 was exactly my number before it was taken lol. But I think Frozen is underestimated again. More like $26.3 or something. Olive or kingslayer will win, or me if it's higher, or Queen Elsa if it's lower. We'll have to wait for the actuals.

Predictions

mfantin 12.60m (was just kidding with 9.9m yesterday)sat/sun 10% more than tues w more seats

pepsa 12.35  WTG welcome to crazy train!

Incardine   10.80

Omni  10.00

SamComedian  10.00

DamienRoc 9.753.197

Quigley 9.46

Hans   8.70

Kingslayer   9.00

Omni   8.66

Cap Henry II  8.58

Tong Kosong 8.50

Cynosure   8.30

Rysu   8.00

What you say for the weekend? Go with 2 decimals, no ties.

BOM reported $11.1M weekend for Frozen. Closest is Incardine. However, % error is 0.3/10.8=2.8% (more than 2%). With so many predictions and the figures being so close to each other, I think a 2% window is fair enough.

The voice of Ray Subers:

Box Office Mojo ‏@boxofficemojo 4 min

'Frozen' had its best weekend yet in Japan ($11.1M). Through eight weekends, the animated hit has grossed over $143M: http://bit.ly/1i9dVxB

This time could be in right: 11,1M$ / 178000 toho adm = 62 toho x (past weekend 60,5). I think toho admissions are inflated by great success of singalong.

Pepsa will win as it's going to 12M+.

Frozen's run in Japan makes other markets look merely 'ok'.

Especially South America. Imagine if it had performed better there? Avengers should have gone down.

Ok now I'm getting greedy.

If you're going this route than China severely underperformed compared to Japan & SK but in all seriousness, if these holds continue than DH2 WW is in the picture.  :o

Damn, I'm getting pretty good with my Japan guesses. Last weekend it looked like I was going to be closest until we got that weird lowball number (I still think there's something odd about last weekend) and this weekend I'm closest on both week and weekend numbers, although I don't think that will hold up with actuals, which is fine with me since I really want the numbers to go up. :D

Still, considering I've never tracked boxoffice in Japan before Frozen, I think I'm getting the hang on how boxoffice works there. B)

I don't know, I just have this nagging feeling that Europeans (and by extension South America being culturally close to Spain) don't take animation as seriously as North Americans. I don't even have to mention how Japan treats animation compared to the rest of the world - I don't think Japanese needs nieces and nephews as an excuse to go watch a Disney animation. Might this be one possible explanation why Frozen has been doing crazy there? Not sure about China though. Anyway, I'm desperate to read some article as to why it has been such a monster in Japan.

Animation in general isn't particularly weak in Latin America, they actually do very well... Just not Frozen. Compare Frozen there to Ice Age 4 and you will see:

  Ice Age 4 Frozen
Argentina 28.7 11.6
Brazil 44.5 21.7
Mexico 46.8 25.7
Colombia 14 6.3
Ecuador 3.9 2.5
Peru 9.8 3.4
Uruguay 1.7 0.7
Venezuela 14.7 12.5
Total 164.1 84.4
