JAPAN BOX OFFICE | Demon Slayer breaks all time record for OW

Recommended Posts

:( I was hoping for a little higher that is lower than yesterday

edit: also you read my mind I was about to ask about the numbers :)

It's still higher than 2 weeks ago, 3 weeks ago, and 4 weeks ago. It's basically the highest Friday afternoon number for a normal (non-holiday) Friday, other than its OD. Evening will be stronger, so it'll be higher than yesterday for the whole day.

Detective Conan: The Sniper from Another Dimension

JEEEEEEEZUS

Dat title is AMAZING. I don't know what this movie is, all I know is that I must see it immediately.

It's the 18th movie in the series based on a Japanese manga/anime, Detective Conan.

I love all the movies, and this one in particular looks really good. It's a mix of mystery, thriller, action with comedy and romance here and there.

The japanese really never get tired of their own franchises : 18th movie for Conan, 17th movie for Pokemon, 35th (!!!) movie for Doraemon, and yet they keep pulling in the same numbers, sometimes even improving them. I can't imagine any other country where fatigue wouldn't have set in by now with such a fast pace in the releases.

They did get tired of Godzilla eventually.

Unfortunately this two cinemas aren't a good term of comparison because they have always been those with higher saturation for Frozen. So for today: all the other cinemas I count are very low, at the moment we have about 25% of seats in presale, that may not be a bad thing, Frozen needs a 40% average sat/sun to match OW.

Based on the current presale, some people on the Japanese forum predict that this looks like a 650~700m Yen weekend for Frozen.

So, the numbers were a bit off up until Sunday. BOM had it at 143.2, which most of us thought looked at least a million low, but doing a little math...

156.933 - 12.562 (mon-tues) = 144.371

That Wed number seems ok, although I was hoping it would hold over 2m.

12.562 Mon-Tues, 1.8 Wed, maybe another 1.8 for Thurs-Fri and a 6.5-7m weekend. Looks like 22.6-23.2m week

Right in line with what I had a couple days ago. I just remembered I also had 1.8m for Thursday/Friday too, pretty much dead on. :D

I think I'm spending more time looking at Japan boxoffice numbers than I did at domestic, maybe that's why I'm getting a feel for that market. B)
