How is Shin-Godzilla looking on Saturday based on this?

Independence Day 2 had 24,255 in presales, and it went on to make ¥570m on its Saturday+Sunday total.

I think Shin Godzilla can reach ¥800m from Saturday+Sunday, judging by the released data.

It's my last day in Japan tomorrow, should I go see Godzilla? I don't understand Japanese, and apparently the movie is very talky so I might just be staring blankly for a lot of the film, on the other hand, I'm probably never gonna be able to see a Godzilla film in Japan again.

You should. There are some very unexpected things that happen.

It have a rating of 4.05/5 on Yahoo, on par with Finding Dory.

@Cookson

@NoobSaibot

On Saturday, Shin Godzilla sold 125,294 tickets according to the sample. If you multiply by 1.65, you get about 207,000 tickets sold across Japan.

The average ticket price is probably around ¥1,500, so it might have grossed about ¥311,000,000 on Saturday. It might increase from that total on Sunday, so maybe a two-day total of ¥650,000,000 is plausible.

Not seeing an increase, but under 10% drop is happening.

Jungle Book opening soon, lets if it will affect Dory.

Regarding Shin Godzilla, I liked the effects and it was interesting seeing a city that (now anyway) I'm familiar with be destroyed. But yeah, I reckon it's better if you know what's going on, the end seemed to come quite abruptly. I suppose they're setting it up for a sequel. I saw it in Roppongi Hills, and it was completely packed.

I'm hoping Dory rebounds next week – as in, drops less than 10% or even increases. Otherwise, this isn't going well.

Dory seems to have passed my test from last week but it still needs another sub-10% drop and increases on Obon week if it is to achieve any notable total.
