Any predictions for Endgame after the news about Pikachu opening on May 3rd   and 10 days holiday which Endgame gonna get if it indeed releases on 26 April ( I found it on IMDb ) ?

Superhero movies aren’t that big in Japan. Infinity War only made $34 million. I’d put Endgame right around that number, regardless of Detective Pikachu.

Beside the 1st quoted ones (CM excluded, as we do not know the final yet) all MCU movies did under $20m in Japan

Quote

¥1.87 billion ($16.4 million) - Doctor Strange (2017)
¥1.56 billion ($14.5 million) - Black Panther (2018)
¥1.32 billion ($11.7 million) - Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
¥1.21 billion ($10.0 million) - Ant-Man (2015)
¥1.20 billion ($13.7 million) - Iron Man 2 (2010)
¥1.15 billion ($10.2 million) - Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
¥1.14 billion ($10.1 million) - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
¥1.07 billion ($9.7 million) - Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
¥800 million ($8.9 million) - Iron Man (2008)
¥700 million ($6.8 million) - Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
¥650 million ($6.3 million) - Thor: The Dark World (2014)
¥550 million ($7.0 million) - Thor (2011)

¥400 million ($5.0 million) - Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
¥240 million ($2.0 million) - The Incredible Hulk (2008)

So no matter if it will impact and influence Endgame, it might be not that big of an impact ww

So this basicly confirms EG will do more than 20m easily, all avengers movies have done that so far.

But yeah it probably be just +- 8m on IW.  So like you said ww it won't make a big dif.

Any chance 100M USD is possible for Detective Pikachu? :)

Anything is possible in Japan, but I'd say the chances  of that are very low. Corpse previously predicted a total between ¥3 billion and ¥5 billion. Here was his most recent post.

Quote

I'm pretty sure people will over-predict [Detective Pikachu] tremendously, but we'll see. I don't think it'll do better numbers than the highest grossing animated [Pokemon] films because it's not going to bring in the children like some probably expect. The audience that watch the animated films every year are largely very young children, so Detective Pikachu is going to have to manage to appeal to adult audiences to find success in the market.

Interest also doesn't appear very high on any Japanese movie sites (still not appearing in any Top 100 searches, for example).

Thursday (03/21) - Vernal Equinox Day:
¥275 million ($2.5 million), +1,372%, ¥2.52 billion ($22.7 million), Doraemon: Nobita's Chronicle of the Moon (Toho) Day 21

¥x60 million ($540,000), 0, ¥380 million ($3.4 million), You Shine in Moonlight (Toho) Day 7
¥x55 million ($495,000), +55%, ¥1.26 billion ($11.3 million), Green Book (Gaga) Day 17

¥x30 million ($270,000), +07%, ¥545 million ($4.9 million), The Mule (Warner Bros.) Day 14

% changes versus same day last week.

Well... Bumblebee sure bombed. First days can sometimes be misleading in the market, but given it opened on a national holiday, weekday or not, that's a pretty pathetic number, one that would require a ridiculous turnaround over the weekend/holiday period to recover.

As per my sources, I have Thursday at $1.15mn but total is $8.6mn.

Huh, indicating a roughly .5M difference between cumes through Wed? That’s pretty big, wonder what’s causing it.

07 (05) ¥x90,000,000 ($815,000), -37%, ¥505,000,000 ($4.5 million), You Shine in Moonlight (Toho) WK2
08 (---) ¥x65,000,000 ($590,000), 0, ¥175,000,000 ($1.6 million), Prince of Legend (Toho) NEW
09 (07) ¥x54,000,000 ($490,000), -42%, ¥655,000,000 ($5.9 million), Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Sony) WK3
10 (08) ¥x53,000,000 ($760,000), -40%, ¥275,000,000 ($2.5 million), Osomatsu-san: The Movie (Shochiku) WK2

>Doraemon: Nobita's Chronicle of Moon Exploration repeats atop the weekend box-office for a fourth-consecutive weekend, with an estimated weekend high enough to achieve the second biggest fourth weekend in the franchise (behind last year's film), as well as the second highest cumulative total after four wees (also behind last year's film). Nothing has changed the films' trajectory, and it's still aiming for a total between ¥4.5-5.0 billion ($40-45 million).

>Bumblebee and Captain Marvel are in a too-close-to-call race for second place. Bumblebee largely disappointed in its debut, coming in nearly 60% below the opening weekend for Transformers: The Last Knight, but such a decline shouldn't have been too unexpected. The Transformers franchise exhausted itself in the market, and the spin-off factor here didn't do it any favors.

>Captain Marvel delivered a strong debut last week, but it's proved to be very, very frontloaded, even by the frontloaded standard for Marvel/DC films. If it doesn't manage to stabilize, even by just a bit, it'll end up in a struggle reaching the ¥2 billion milestone, much less the ¥2.5 billion mark it should be aiming for.

>Bohemian Rhapsody finally fell out of the top 10, but it took twenty weeks in release before doing so. I have it coming in 13th place over the weekend following a good ~25% decline for around ¥40 million ($360,000), bringing its total up to ~¥12.62 billion ($113.2 million). I'll continue to track it for as long as possible.

Nothing has changed the films' trajectory, and it's still aiming for a total between ¥4.5-5.0 billion ($40-45 million).

>Captain Marvel got off to a good start last weekend, but it's displaying heavy frontloading, and experiences one of the biggest second weekend declines among all Marvel/DC films... It's going to end up struggling to reach the ¥2 billion ($20 million) milestone unless it surprises over Spring Break and stabilizes.

>Tonde Saitama earns another strong hold over its fifth weekend of release, and in terms of admissions, it actually rose to second place(!) with 127,000 ticket sold. The surprise, soon to be hit, starring Gackt is quickly approaching a multiplier of 10, and will pretty easily exceed the ¥3 billion ($27 million+) milestone.

>Bumblebee debuts in a disappointing fourth place, selling a mediocre, borderline poor, 120,000 admissions over the weekend frame across 724 screens, and reaching 186,566 admissions since opening on Thursday. This opening is over 60% below that of Transformers: The Last Knight. Look for this spin-off to barely reach the ¥1 billion ($10 million) milestone.

>Prince of Legend's weekend gross remains an estimate, but its four-day cumulative total is an actual. It sold 136,093 admissions since Thursday across 311 screens.

>Bohemian Rhapsody finally fell out of the top 10, but it took twenty weeks in release before doing so. Coming in twelfth place in its twentieth-weekend of release, the phenomenon smash has exceeded 9.1 million admissions, and will soon overtake Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace to become the 17th highest grossing film of all-time in the market.

¥x55 million ($500,000), 0, ¥x55 million ($0.5 million), Ninja Drones? (Shochiku) NEW

Bonus: ¥x07 million ($65,000), -30%, ¥12.68 billion ($113.8 million), Bohemian Rhapsody (Fox) Day 141

Pretty meh Friday for Dumbo. That likely won't be enough to dethrone Doraemon from atop the weekend-box office either, so Doraemon: Nobita's Chronicle of Moon Exploration will claim its 5th-consecutive weekend at #1 (and 6th-consecutive next week).

Dumbo is definitely going to perform at the bottom of Disney's live-action re-tellings, perhaps coming in either a bit below or on par with The Jungle Book. I'd project a debut around ¥250 million ($2.2/2.3 million) based on its Friday take, and a finish of between ¥1.5-2.0 billion ($15-20 million) depending on how it handles the mid/late-April releases. The Jungle Book grossed ¥2.21 billion ($21.5 million).

Japanese audiences just aren't really into the non-musical, animal-themed live-action remakes it seems. I imagine they struggle to find an audience. Older audiences may find them too childish; teens likely see little/no appeal (no attachment to Disney); and family/younger audiences probably find them too mature. The live-action Disney Princess films have performed overwhelmingly better at the box-office.

How about musical animal-themed live-action remake like TLK?

Some info about Golden Week this year, courtesy of Corpse :

Golden Week is from April 29th-May 5th. April 29th is Showa Day, May 3rd is Constitution Day, May 4th is Greenery Day, and May 5th is Children's Day.

However, this year's Golden Week holiday frame is special, and unprecedented. I'll explain:

On April 30th, Emperor Akihito is abdicating the throne, and the Crown Prince Naruhito will ascend the throne on May 1st. As a result of this, May 1st will be a national holiday this year. And due to May 1st becoming a national holiday, April 30th and May 2nd also become national holidays because a day between two national holidays is then declared a holiday itself. May 6th also becomes a national holiday because May 5th (a national holiday) falls on a Sunday, and when a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is declared a holiday! :funny:

So, this year's Golden Week is extra long, and when you include the weekend of April 27th, you get an unprecedented 10-day holiday frame, EIGHT of which will be national holidays(!), from April 27th-May 6th without school OR work.

April 27th - Weekend
April 28th - Weekend
April 29th - Showa Day (National Holiday)
April 30th - Declared National Holiday (falls between holidays)
May 1st - National Holiday (New Emperor)
May 2nd - Declared National Holiday (falls between holidays)
May 3rd - Constitution Day (National Holiday)
May 4th - Greenery Day (National Holiday)
May 5th - Children's Day (National Holiday)
May 6th - Declared National Holiday (Monday after a holiday)

This is the longest consecutive holiday frame where both schools AND workplaces will be closed in modern history. It's going to be huge for the box-office. The only downside is that we won't see any weekend actuals for April 27-28th or May 4th-5th until May 7th/8th at the earliest.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All ten days will be huge, but May 1st will be the most interesting to watch and could end up as something truly special. The day consists of:
-National Holiday (New Emperor Ascends).
-National Discount Day (40% off all ticket prices every 1st of every month).
-Ladies' Day (every Wednesday females get half-off ticket prices).
The only other time all three of these days (a national holiday + 1st of the month + ladies' day) can align is when New Year (Jan. 1st) falls on a Wednesday. And that can only occur every six years.
It'll also be interesting to see how everything behaves after a consecutive ten-day holiday break. As mentioned, this will be the longest stretch where both schools and workplaces will be closed in modern history.
