Biggest Japanese film WW is Your Name at over $400m

I compiled the two films last time, they were $380mn and $367mn Approx. Spirited Away in 2001 when local currency was low, so in real terms, SA is still the biggest.

With some less conservative holds and good reception in China this could jockey for WW #1 for the year.

Is this releasing in China any soon?? Taiwan have DS over this  weekend. Malaysia in December (assuming cinema have reopen by then)

Speaking of Taiwan, DS' beat Tenet opening gross in Taipei region, not far from Weathering with You in Taiwan

Yeah I think pretty certain now. Even if we are going 25% weekly drops from here, (which is something Frozen 2 had in December before Xmas), it will have Xmas and New Year bump.

Thanks to the Exchange rates, it will be crossing $300mn in Japan itself, reaching $325mn perhaps. It will have a good chance at beating Spirited Away worldwide gross for biggest Japanese film in $. Local currency may be tough.

Thanks Charlie for your wonderful work here.

Some days ago i rememember to read something like you´ll be out from here for about six months, if this is correct, this forum will be very sad without your fantastic posts...

In my head I said that, but I didn't realise I said that here too. Yeah there's nothing much happening in 6 months and I have exams so.

. I hope I am able to isolate myself.

Will need $130mn outside Japan. Seems tough.

Your Name and SA both performed very good in East Asia such as Taiwan, China, SK , and so happen these countries are among the best that fight of the virus. So DS overseas potential isn't so much impacted by the virus. In fact, it could be the opposite thanks to absence of Hollywood blockbuster

Demon Slayer Taipei City Box Office

Friday: NT$7.9mn

Saturday: NT$10.85mn (Biggest Single Day since reopening)

Total: NT$18.75mn

The weekend should be around NT$28.5-29mn. Overall Taiwan should be NT$80-90mn, i.e. $2.8-3.15mn. Big opening. I think $10-12mn full run.
