First Weekend Forecast in a awhile, but I'm going to begin doing them again, along with Weekend Estimates on Sundays, on a weekly basis.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train is a bit of a shot in the dark this weekend. It has the reservations for Saturday that would normally guarantee a weekend above ¥1 billion, and I think it might get there, but again, just in case it doesn't, I'm predicting below that mark with a "safe" (LOL) 45% increase.

Takizawa Kabuki Zero 2020: The Movie is the only one I'm not very confident on since its average ticket price was greatly inflated last weekend. Its going to have a decent Saturday hold based on reservations, but I'm expecting a very large decline on Sunday. Still, a 50% decline is more of a guess than prediction.

Pretty much assured. I think we will see ¥850M-1.05B range 👀

Skadoosh, my midrange exactly agreed with Corpse”s forecast 2 days early 😈

Of course it will be a kind of unprecedented and volatile weekend, with the better giveaway item than last two, less supply, and the baseline numbers much less. So maybe it will have insanely low PSm and just do 800 or something.

06 (04) ¥x67,000,000 ($645,000), -61%, ¥310,000,000 ($3.0 million), Fate/Grand Order - Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot 1 (Aniplex) WK2

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train continues to be covered in the thread discussions and charts, so check the many pages/posts in recent days for information on it.

New Interpretation Records of the Three Kingdoms scores the third biggest debut of the 2020 calendar year, and the second highest for a live-action film (behind the same director's From Today, It's My Turn! back in July). Look for a total around ¥4-5 billion ($40-50 million).

Stand By Me, Doraemon 2 is still holding well, and is doing what it needs to do in order to benefit enough from the upcoming holiday season to get above the ¥3 billion ($30 million) milestone I believe.

Takizawa Kabuki Zero 2020: The Movie drop is solely based on its decline in admissions, but given the special screenings greatly inflating its average ticket price, it'll probably come in noticeably lower in revenue with actuals tomorrow.

Another great weekend. Based on the estimates above, the Top 10 is up 25% versus the same weekend last year.

Weekend actual: ¥30.289.307.700 ( 22.539.385 admits )
From 26/12, 4DX and MX4D version will be released.
300k giveaway (special key) will be given to people who join in the 4DX/ MX4D version showings.

But I don't know if this giveaway is only an extra gifts for people who join in 4DX and MX4D version? And there will be other giveaway?

12/12 - Sat.: ¥588,408,200 ($5.7 million) / 407,286
12/13 - Sun.: ¥351,003,000 ($3.4 million) / 248,024

59-Day Cumulative Total: ¥30,289,307,700 ($288.9 million) / 22,539,385

Note: Mon.-Fri. are estimates (excluding Holiday Mondays), therefore adding up each day won't equal the actual total.

Monday-Friday (12/07-11) have been readjusted (all up) to account for the new cumulative total. I've gotten the weekend numbers very close for most of this film's run, but I keep underestimating the weekdays a bit, even after upping my estimates more and more each week to avoid this. It's not a lot, really, but I'll just keep estimating higher and higher until it matches up better! LOL.

Demon Slayer will break these records faster than I expected, but I really don't understand why Japan doesn't count re-releases in the total gross of movies

Apart from Princess Mononoke and Titanic (both ¥0.85/0.90 billion to add), which have already been surpassed, Spirited Away also had a re-release. We know that its ¥30.8 billion total is actually ¥31.66, and its 23.5 million admissions are actually 24.3

Considering those actual totals, do you think Demon Slayer will still be able to break both records by Christmas?

If it follows the same pattern than last week i think the day will be 25 th or 26 th maximum

>Demon Slayer: Mugen Train repeats for a ninth-weekend atop the box-office, experiencing a huge increase to set a new 9th weekend record. It's now only the second film to ever gross over ¥30 billion, behind Spirited Away, and will surpass Spirited Away to become the new #1 film of all-time around Christmas, maybe a day or two earlier.

>New Interpretation Records of the Three Kingdoms scores the third biggest debut of the 2020 calendar year, and the second highest for a live-action film (behind the same director's From Today, It's My Turn! back in July). It sold a very impressive 423,000 admissions over the weekend frame across 348 screens, and sold 555,640 admissions over its first 3-days in release. Look for a total around ¥4-5 billion ($40-50 million).

>Stand By Me, Doraemon 2 is still holding well, and is doing what it needs to do in order to benefit enough from the upcoming holiday season to get above the ¥3 billion ($30 million) milestone I believe. After four weeks, it has sold 1.43 million admissions.

>Tengaramon's weekend box office is still an estimate (revised upward), but its cumulative total was released. Since it's from an independent distributor, it'll be another day or two before its weekend box office is released, but I'll update it when it is.

>Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance sold 34,956 admissions in its 4DX re-release over its first 3-days in release.

Another great weekend. The Top 10 is up 25% versus the same weekend last year.

Charlie, in your predictions, next week (12/19-25) we can expect a bigger drop than 30%, right ? Because this weekend should drop a lot (around 45%-55%) compared to last weekend or maybe I'm wrong ?

I think Charlie is bullish on the weekdays. Not sure if he’s accounted for Dec 23 being the emperor’s birthday holiday for TFA but not for DS (new emperor, new birthday).

Accounted. But 23rd onward across world you will see the holiday boost starting.

Frozen 2 usually was dropping 75% on Monday from Sunday, but on 23rd it only dropped 60%.
