Well, it can't hold that stretch. So, for now, ¥10B is the biggest aim. 

 

Looking at the schedule

 

07/15 - Minions 2/Kingdom 2 (Both are sequels to ¥5.0B)

07/29 - Jurassic World Dominion (Sequel to FK (¥8.0B))

08/06 - One Piece Red (Sequel to ¥5.0B)

 

These four works will keep killing the premium formats that Top Gun Maverick have.

 

If all of them, just clean off (due to bad reception???) Then why not ¥15B 😁

 

If Academy awards were near and TGM winning an award, then it's legs could have been comparable with Avatar...!!

It will probably drop sharply this weekend but I don't see how it's missing 10b at this point, it will take a few weeks but with summer break and obon around the corner I don't see how it misses, it's not going to just suddenly die in Japan, even with sharper drops it got close enough already that it can just limp to the mark.

Well, we have two bad guys (Jurassic World: Dominion &One Piece Red). So, let's try a result similar to Despicable Me 3 (~¥7.0B)

Actually Oct 2020 was a greatest date. And the argument doesn't make sense because Demon Slayer run was missing Western release + weak local film release.

 

Well, in my argument, Western film still doesn't even make any sense as it's still struggling to reach pre-pandemic level.

 

Demon Slayer is truly gigantic but with an later release like what you are suggesting will result in less possibility in reaching ¥40B then ¥50B.

 

It may somehow pass Spirited Away (¥31.60B) but run won't be as enjoyable as we have since back in October 2020

...Minion 1 was a 5b film. I am really confused by a range that has it increasing from a MINIMUM of +40% to a maximum of +100% (???). Pretty sure it'll drop over that one rather than increasing.

 

Anyway these debuts are looking to be really unimpressive so far.

Nah. DS is an exception so general BO rules don't really apply. The film was so big it basically generated a holiday period around itself and the only thing it needed was as little screen competition as possible, which it got.  You're not wrong in saying that october is a generally awful date but I don't think early holidays do anything for this film in particular. 40b is probably the cap on Japan's market.
