Very nice for Frozen! Bigger that reported number. Doraemon is pretty strong too, despite facing big opening from Frozen.

09 (06) Kiki's Delivery Service (Toei) Week 3
10 (10) 12 Years a Slave (Gaga) Week 2

>Frozen captures the top spot at the box-office this weekend, taking in a mighty ¥763,389,450 ($7.5 million) with 602,347 admissions on 598 screens. And its 3-day total reached ¥986 million ($9.7 million) with a boosted (Toho Cinemas discount day) Friday opening.

The opening is really, really impressive. It's bigger (2x/3x or more) than any Walt Disney Animation release since at least the early 90s (and I'm sure it's bigger than those considering their totals), and it even out-opened the majority of Pixar Animation's releases trailing only Toy Story 3 (¥977 million), Finding Nemo (¥898 million), and Monsters University (¥847 million).

The Spring box-office, while lucrative, isn't as strong as the Summer or Winter, but it is capable of great legs and I wouldn't be surprised if Frozen comes close to a multiplier of 10. Wreck-It Ralph had a 8.8 multiplier last March as a recent example. So, Frozen should be on track for ¥7 billion ($70 million), or possibly as much as ¥8 billion ($80 million). Which will crush Dinosaur's ¥4.9 billion as the highest-grossing Walt Disney Animation release.

>Doraemon was unaffected by the huge opening of Frozen, dropping only 32% to earn ¥403,288,950 ($4.0 million) with 358,381 admissions. This is actually the second best second weekend hold for the franchise in the past 10 years, and the third biggest second weekend in the franchise.

After 9-days of release, it has earned ¥1.1 billion ($11 million) with 980,000 admissions, which is also the second-highest two-week total in the franchise. Doraemon has really, really bad weekdays since it skews so young, but when Spring Break starts near the end of the Month, it typically earns 4x as much that week and more than triples its two-week total.

>Pretty Cure All Stars: New Stage 3 didn't do as bad as estimates suggested. It debuted to ¥192,649,600 ($1.8 million) with 172,278 admissions on 210 screens. This is actually down only 2% compared to last March's release, so it should be able to hit the ¥1 billion ($10 million) milestone again this year.

>RoboCop also improved over estimates (in fact, almost everything did). Playing on 308 screens, it grossed ¥100,812,400 ($1.0 million) with 78,054 admissions. This is still disappointing obviously, but at least it cleared 100 million over the weekend... I guess.

>And still in the Top 8 after 13-weeks in release, The Eternal Zero has now earned an insane ¥8.41 billion ($81.8 million) with 6.87 million admissions after 86 days.

Golden Week is shaping up to be bigger than the several past years.
Summer/Obon is also looking great.
New Year is still awhile away with few films still scheduled , but it's starting to see more releases.

Planes 2 was recently announced for July 19th... competition rarely matters in most cases, especially during holidays, but it's facing Studio Ghibli, Pokemon, and Doraemon (first time being released in the Summer, and the first CGI release). The first one barely exceeded ¥1 billion only a couple months back, and I'm expecting a significant drop-off for it.

In the majority of years, 7-8 films in the yearly Top 10 are released during these three holiday frames.
