ALADDIN - 209,656

Comp:

Aladdin 1st Sunday at 5PM: 218,717

BATB 2nd Sunday Total: 239,310

Should be able to Pass BATB's Sunday number here, but as @Hsinche pointed out, the BATB concert thing added quite considerably to its final number.

easily will pass BATB sunday numbers .... ridiculous trending by Aladdin ...

So excluding the events, Aladdin is actually holding better than BatB. Probably not an increase, but it looks like a drop less than 10%, another 1B weekend is locked.

Yup, Holding way better.

Sunday Total at 7PM: 248,430

1st Sunday at 7PM: 253,910

Barely a drop up to this point, but like yesterday, it probably won't hold as well between 7PM and 9PM.

Already above BATB's final Sunday. An excellent hold.

>Aladdin takes the #1 spot in spectacular fashion once again, achieving the sub-10% drop it needed to achieve a second weekend above ¥1 billion -- it's the fourteenth film in history to accomplish this feat. And not to dismiss this incredible hold, it's just important to remember that "original" films that debut big typically have excellent second weekends, so this hold wasn't unexpected. So far, Aladdin is performing very similarly to its studio predecessors, Beauty and the Beast and Alice in Wonderland, and has a good shot at reaching the ¥10 billion ($90 million) milestone.

>Men in Black International debuts in second place to a disappointing result. It's down around 50% compared to its predecessors' opening weekend, and will likely end up experiencing close to a 60% decline in total since it'll shed screens/showtime rather quick.

>Girls und Panzer: Finale - Chapter 2 did well, besting the other two limited/near-limited release anime films that debuted this weekend. I have it coming in about 8% below Chapter 1 of the finale, but it could have matched it when actuals come in. Usually, part 1/chapter 1 of multi part/chapter finale films perform the best, so this is an impressive result.

>Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl performed incredibly well in its debut, selling out ~85% of its available tickets over the weekend. It's common for limited release anime films like this to sellout the majority of their showtimes, but 85% is very notable. It averaged ~191 moviegoers per showing.

From eiga (https://eiga.com/ranking/)

Aladdin: 2.5 million admission, 3.585 billion yen or ~$33 million

MIBI: 275 million yen or $2.53 million for the 2-day weekend, aiming for 1.5 billion yen total ($13.8M).

KOTM: 1.5 million admission, more than 2.2 billion yen or $20.24 milllion

So according to eiga.com, the higher-than-expected reported cume for Aladdin (which was $32.6M) was actually underestimated.

Actuals for June 15 - 16

Aladdin: ¥1.099B ($10M+) / ¥3.585B ($33M+)

Only 2% drop!
