3,384M admissions were sold this week, -10% vs 2021 (+1% in Paris)

Thor's opening is right in line with The Dark World (1,16M admissions) and Ragnarok (1,14M), but it had more previews than both. It has very little competition until september, but WOM is horrible (2.7/5 user score and dropping - in comparison TDW and Eternals are at 3.4, MoM is at 3.6). Maybe 2.2-2.3M total.

Fine start for Ducobu Président although behind previous installments. Should cross 1M admissions. La Nuit du 12 is doing extremely well with a strong PTA. WOM and reviews are great (4.1/4.5).

TGM and Decision To Leave are holding well, with the latter on track to become the biggest Park Chan Wook film in France (Handmaiden ended with 300 000 admissions). Arthur, Malédiction had a spectacular drop (-79%) and should sell less than 5% of what the original Arthur et les Minimoys film did (6,4M). Incroyable mais vrai became the biggest Quentin Dupieux film in France.

This week, Rodrigo Sorogoyen's latest film, As Bestas is off to a great start and sold 11 375 admissions on OD. 70-80k admissions if it follows El Reino. Joyeuse Retraite 2 had a weak od with 32 178 admissions (including 6 389 previews).

55m USD possible for TGM in long run?

A small recap of top 10 highest grossing movies since the beginning of the year

1.Top Gun Maverick: 5,711,998
2. Jurassic World 3: 3,357,635
3. Doctor Strange 2: 3,269,066
4. The Batman: 3,032,965
5. Minions 2: 2,893,838
6. Fantastic Beasts 3: 2,752,361
7. Uncharted: 2,514,261
8. Qu'est ce qu'on a fait au bon dieu 3 : 2,429,450
9: Sonic 2: 2,235,189

10. Thor Love And Thunder: 2,129,017

TGM will likely stay #1 this year, Avatar 2 is the only movie who can come close to that but it comes out too late in the year, big chunk will be counted for 2023.
Other noteworthy fact, there are only 1 French movie in the top, since the covid these movies that attracts families are in trouble, even the sequels of popular movies do much worse.

@Zeiden16 @LPLC, can I see you here???

Nope haha but I think the movie will do fine, manga sales have more than doubled in 1 year with the government giving money for young people read more, and One Piece after Dragon Ball is the manga with the strongest fanbase.

Very difficult to predict, others One Piece movies here were released a few months later after the Japan release and it didn't exceed 70k, this is the first time the release date is so close and with the growing interest for manga and One Piece it should easily do much better, especially it's still holiday.

Speaking of release dates I saw a lot of Dragon Ball fans wanted to boycott the new movie because the release date was so late compared to other countries, but maybe it's just talk and they'll go watch it anyways...

Edit: I just find out the number of screenings for the One Piece movie, 645, it's really high, if I remember it was close to 400 for Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen. 500k should be achievable, they bet big on the success of movie.

Unlike, rest of Europe, French Distributors are always ready to share screens. Thank! I hope you can enjoy the film too!

One Piece: Red preview alone has already sold 119,311 tickets, impressive numbers, and with the screenings number and summer holidays the first week is going to be big.

When I saw the preview live reaction, I knew that One Piece Red is going to be big! Thanks for the update!!
