any big local titles that could break out similar to Extreme Job? (btw i finally got around to watching this film and it was totally fine, no idea how it managed to become the highest grossing film in SK of all time, the whole 3rd act felt like something from a hollywood film lol).

Train to Busan 2 is the only one I know of that may have a chance. Extreme Job was a fun action comedy that provided some great escapism. Something everyone flock towards when you live in a Parasite type of society...

If Coronavirus wasn’t influencing the Box Office in South Korea it certainly will be now. South Korea 51 cases in a 24 hour period taking the total to 82 from 31 the day prior. Also a major of one of the cities worst hit has told residents to avoid going outdoors, I’ve linked an article and copied Andy paste does the most important t information.

“SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — The mayor of the South Korean city of Daegu urged its 2.5 million people on Thursday to refrain from going outside as cases of a new virus spiked and he pleaded for help from the central government.

Mayor Kwon Young-jin made the request in a televised news conference after the southeastern city and its nearby towns reported 35 additional cases of infection with the new coronavirus on Thursday.

Kwon also asked Daegu citizens to wear masks even indoors if possible. He expressed fears that the rising infections in the region will soon overwhelm the city’s health infrastructure and called for urgent help from the central government in Seoul”

and here goes the second biggest market for Black Widow.

If it breaks into South East Asia in a big way that’ll pretty much take out close to half of the possible OS gross for BW. Japan is also getting hit hard but that won’t matter for an MCU title although could be bad news for some other Hollywood releases later in the year.

But at the moment we just a wait and see how if it gets any worse and hope that a cure comes quicker than everyone anticipates.

This rapid spread and a lot of the new cases are due to the Shincheonji cult and a super spreader  who is estimated to have spread it to 40 people at the cult church (who twice refused to get checked. The government should have just chucked the person into quarantine or forced her to get checked. I think they passed a law just yesterday about it).

I hope the government is doing its best to quickly identify and quarantine such people before it spreads even further otherwise we are looking at a China like lockdown for several weeks in Korea too. Already seeing a lot of reddit posts highlighting reduced activity and people staying home.

It is going to affect BO going forward, but if it is not controlled the BO will completely collapse like In China.
