It's lunar new years holiday tomorrow so today basically acted like a Friday and with it being valentine's day inflated the numbers a bit I think.

I've been reading some online comments, and generally the reaction seems to be that although Black Panther lacks the typical marvel movie humor, it is still a good film nonetheless. And quite a few mention that they enjoyed the scenes shot in Korea (Busan).

Comparison to Homecoming, Black Panther at 547,952 ($4.54m) which is a 35% increase over Homecoming. :o Totals are 1,181,456 admissions and $9,249,609. Also BP dropped just 13% today, much shallower than Homecoming. 

 

Also BP has 272,919 presales, a little less than Homecoming, but still should be a solid weekend.
