meanwhile Eternals Main Trailer passed 3.2M views on Marvel Korea Youtube, passing 3.1M Teaser. both are top 2 biggest video on there. lol

SK Box office has continued to be pretty dismal in 2021, an understandable continuation of the Covid-19 stricken year of 2020. With level 4 social distancing still in full force through much of South Korea and the lack of a standout film, it’s perhaps to be expected. Summer box office has been a disappointment especially with no films matching either Deliver us from Evil (4,357,803 admissions) or Peninsula (3,812,250 admissions) which were the standout summer tentpole films of 2020.

 

Here are the top 10 films in admissions for 2021.

To put a bit of a positive note on things though, box office numbers have surpassed 2020 already with 4 months left to go which is a step in the right direction.

                   Total Gross: 159.96B KRW

2021 Toral Admissions: 22,761,150

                   Total Gross: 215,95B KRW

 

Hopefully, with the proliferation of vaccines, easing of social distancing measures and release of great films that people will be excited to see, box office will soon come back.

I don't think great WOM can save this. there are simply no interest and hype from general audience.

Also depends on screens and competition from weekend 2 onwards right? I mean if it is a WoM play..
