both previous Spider Man were released on July, biggest, busiest month. while November is.. mid.

seems like big films are doing like -40% from their potential. (like BW Eternals both would do 6m ish in pre-pandemic)

so 8M's -40% would be 4.8M. but who knows. it's Spider Man and hype is massive due to 3 spider man thing.

Also people will be more acceptive  towards theater in December too I guess.

Expectations for Spiderman movie is so out of whack that disappointment is the only result. In every market its not going to double. Spiderman 3 was crazy. WOM of SM2 was among the best among SH movies. Hype was off the charts and May Day opening means holiday almost everywhere. So it had crazy OD/OW numbers and then collapsed after that due to meh WOM. Back in BOM forum days, we were use had SM4 released it would have dropped big from SM3.

NWH trailer doesn't seem that much bigger than FFH here, so wouldn't expect anything crazy.

https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=today 5-y&geo=KR&q=%2Fm%2F06ys2

Here the trailer causes a sizable jump but in a fairly normal range, nothing huge like in other markets.

How does nuking in Hiroshima makes films better. American Film will always contain American propaganda, especially Disney, but we don't pay any attention. Public reacts and because of these, Disney never broken ¥1000M barrier in Japan since last two years.

Huh, I was using the FFH second trailer, but weirdly it is inflated by Endgame in Korea while in several other countries it wasn't. Plus in some countries (USA, Mexico, Australia from ones I have checked) the NWH trailer spike even beat the release of FFH, not so in Korea.

Issac, could you help to share your insights, in which cases having the historical event of bombing Hiroshima in films is considered bad for Japanese people?

How much it is about the context? In other words, does it need to have always a realistic portrayal (only in documentaries?), and therefore having it in a fictional fantasy setting like Eternals, it is always bad?

Or is it a total taboo to be portrayed in foreign films?

Could you help me to understand in which cases it is okay to be in films and which cases not?

That was 80 years ago, I don't know why historical events in movies are a problem in Japan and even in China.

Sometimes wounds of wars and horrendous acts in those can throw a long shadow. Holocaust and Hitler was and still is a difficult subject for Jews, other victims and Germans themselves. Armenian genocide over 100 years ago have major ripple effects today. China & Taiwan...and the list goes on.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki were extremely visual and visceral acts of war done on to civilians, men, women, children. The little that I know and understand, this happening to a culture of tradition, honour, and divine Empire with a divine Emperor has deeply imprinted and wounded the national psyche for several generations to come.

I can understand why it is important, taboo, and fragile subject, and I want to understand better how Issac and other Japanese in different generations think and feel about it. Maybe for this forum, that related to films is what is relevant.

FFH was already massive hit more than othe countries. so obviously spike won't be huge like others.

for example, Captian Marvel did better than FFH in that three countries you mentioned while it did as usual Marvel  in Korea.
