South Korea Box Office

As an aside, does anyone know if Attack on Titan has a chance of a Korean release?

It's one of the more widely known and popular Japanese animations here. I'm pretty confident it will get a release in the future.

Rysu, so Minions is holding better than MI5 in SK?

Interesting...

Minions didn't open huge and it's a Animation = auto beter legs.

No i do think so that animation get better legs in sk, but you should wait for Rsyu for the full answere :)

Also MI5 had way more direct compition (not to take anything away from minions)

Just pointing some things out that might explain why :)

I disagree that animated films automatically has better legs. Animated films doing well right now probably has more to do with it being the summer holiday season for the younger generation leading to better holds on weekdays. I do agree with the direct competition part. The key demo for MI5 overlaps to a large extent with that of Assassination and Veteran, while it doesn't for Minions, leading to a comparatively better hold for it. It would be hard to see this kind of pattern outside of the holiday frame though.

Biggest 3-Day OW & (multiplier) for Pixar films (Admissions: 2004~)

01. 447,420 Toy Story 3 (2010) (X3.32)

02. 320,360 WALL-E (2008) (X4.12)
03. 292,100 Up (2009) (X3.56)
04. 228,900 Ratatouille (2007) (X4.61)
05. 208,599 Brave (2012) (X5.90)
06. 190,353 The Incredibles (2004) (X6.07)
07. 180,314 Cars 2 (2011) (X2.58)
08. 175,278 Monsters University (2013) (X4.97)
09. 172,257 Cars (2006) (X3.86)

Biggest 3-Day OW is nailed on for Inside Out. A multi of just X3 from that would make it the most attended Pixar film in South Korea. There's a very good chance of it happening in my opinion.

Aw k, didn't know just tought that cause you said cars got a 3x multi :) So yeah my bad, probably only pixar then :D

I woke up today to messages from people asking if I am okay?

I had no idea what they were talking about until i saw the bbc website and news that the North is apparently about to go to war.

As is natural in this situation, I read the article, rolled my eyes and went back to bed.

The only thing stopping me from going to the cinema is that Fantastic 4 is my option for seeing something new :)

(Which annoyingly I am going to go see within the next few days as I am a masochist and it will be dumped from cinemas pretty quickly I expect.)

This situation with North Korea is an annual tradition almost, although it did get a little more out of hand than usual this time around. Most South Koreans didn't bat an eyelid to be honest, so I doubt it affected the box office.
