I was wondering if you knew why that was? I though Children's Day was Saturday last year, and Sunday this year. Then assumed that, like Japan, when a holiday falls on a Sunday the Monday after gets to be a "nominated Holiday". Does this also apply to Saturday as well then or did May 7th have something special last year? Also based on IW, I think it will almost-certainly pass Avatar in admissions, in $ will be more difficult. It make sense that if a holiday falls on Saturday, Monday is also off. Both Saturday and Sunday are weekend days, and therefore are treated the same in most countries. So Monday off should apply in both instances I would think. Comparing to Japan though, the nominated holiday only applies if it falls on a Sunday, not a Saturday. Hence why I asked troy since they seem to be from South Korea. Maybe @Fish&chipscould provide some insight.

But I have no idea why IW showed larger drop than that of EG last year, given that EG’s numbers have been larger 😅 All I can guess is that IW was relatively frontloaded on Saturday because that day was the actual Children’s Day (?) troyand
One more thing I’m interested in is EG’s IMAX number. So far: Avatar 9.74b won (641,884 admissions) Interstellar 9.69b won (844,474) Infinity war 8.33b won (493,398) as of Sunday EG has grossed 5.54b won (331,150). ------------- Oops, dots were in wrong position. Yeah, but I'm still expecting that CGV will release IMAX 2D for EG at the end of its run. In fact there are a few theaters that show IMAX 2D, but I'm waiting for Yongsan CGV IMAX, which has the largest screen in SK.

Occasionally you get one that goes way over the average but as you can see from the list below, bigger production budget does not guarantee a box office hit. Historic production cost rankings 01. 43.7B KRW Snowpiercer (2014) 02. 40.0B KRW Along with the gods 1&2 03. 33.0B KRW Battleship Island (2017) 04. 30.0B KRW D-War (2007) 05. 28.0B KRW My Way (2011) 06. 22.0B KRW Mr. Go (2013) 07. 20.0B KRW Typhoon (2005) 08. 19.0B KRW Taegukgi: Brotherhood of War (2004) 09. 19.0B KRW Roaring Currents (2014) 10. 18.0B KRW Assasination (2015) These were media reported sums, although I could have missed one or two. Along with the gods 2 only added a little budget to the first shoot so they were reported together. Dollar sums are pretty hard to figure out unfortunately due to fluctating ER. troyand
Big drop but it's okay because it dropped softer than IW at the same period and still outnumbers IW. Theoretically there is no problem for EG to pass Avatar as long as it keeps outnumbers IW at least for another week.
