John Marston
isn't this pretty much the same opening Quantum had 4 years agothis seems kind of underwhelming. Edited October 28, 2012 by John Marston
Fake
In the markets Skyfall opened this week, QoS had opened with 68m, and it had played for 1 extra day in Russia, SK etc. and 2 extra days in France, Belgium etc. With normal schedules, Skyfall would have opened with 82-84m, so Skyfall has opened over 20% better than QoS.
John Marston
which seems them that Skyfall will only make about 50m more than QOS. Considering the four year inflation, 50th anniversary of Bond, terrific reviews, and expanding markets, seems underwhelming.

China will contribute another 60m at least. So 535m is pretty conservative at this point. And 'terrific reviews' will ensure better legs. And most of the "expanding markets" will open next weekend. Olive
The Sony and MGM pic commanded $32.4 million in the U.K., shattering several records. IMAX turned in $3.5 million from 27 theaters in 15 territories -- the exhibitor's largest opening ever for a non-holiday, non-summer title. Sony said Skyfall smashed the all-time Saturday attendance record in the U.K., as well as posting the No. 2 opening weekend in history, behind just the 3D Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2. In France, Skyfall drew $9.1 million from some 700 situations. Russia opened to $8.6 million. The South Korea bow scooped up 49% of the market with $$6.1 million. Skyfall set an opening record for a Bond title in Brazil ($6.5 million) and drew $1.4 million in Belgium. The 22 previous Bond titles dating from the first, 1962’s Dr. No (which generated $43.4 million overseas) to 2008’s Quantum of Solace ($407.7 million), have tallied total foreign revenues of $3.277 billion. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/foreign-box-office-skyfall-blasts-383848

PatrickvD
Yeah this is not in 3D.... Bond is making money the old fashioned way. If it makes $500 million that's pretty damn strong.
Ajde
Its opening in Poland (2,5 million) would be this year's best. Very surprised with this result
CJohn
It would have been the 2nd biggest OW of the year here if it opened on Thursday instead of Friday. In this way, it won't match QoS OW (that one opened on a Thursday) or TDKR OW (the 2nd biggest OW of the year right now). Fake
Wow @ Brazil!! QoS did 7.4m total...... Skyfall has done 6.5m on OW itself! If that is any indication, we could see some excellent increases in Asia and rest of LA.
Burgess
When trying to predict Skyfall's box office trajectory overseas it may be helpful to use Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol as a guide. It seems that SF has stiffer competition this Holiday season than MI4: GP did in late 2011, but Bond is obviously a stronger property. In summary, MI4: GP opened with $69.5 million from 42 markets and SF opened with 77.7 million from 25 markets MI4: GP Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol opened throughout most of the world this weekend and took a commanding lead at the international box office. The fourth installment of the spy franchise debuted to $69.5 million in 42 markets representing approximately 70 percent of the marketplace. It was particularly impressive in South Korea ($11.4 million) and Japan ($9.3 million), and was also solid in Australia ($4.2 million) and Germany ($4.1 million). In all four of these markets, Ghost Protocol's opening marked a significant improvement over Mission: Impossible III. The action in Ghost Protocol takes place in Moscow, Dubai and Mumbai, and consequently the movie played extremely well in all three of the respective countries. It opened to $6.04 million in Russia, which is over twice as much as Mission: Impossible III. It also scored the highest debut ever in the United Arab Emirates with $2.4 million from just 27 locations for a per-theater average close to $90,000. Finally, it launched to an enormous $4 million in India, which is more than four times the opening of Mission: Impossible III. It did take a bit of a hit in France ($5.5 million) and Spain ($2.6 million), but on the whole the movie seems well-positioned to challenge Mission: Impossible III's $263 million foreign total. SF Easily dominating the foreign box office, James Bond pic Skyfall opened to a staggering $77.7 million from 25 markets, paving the way for the 23rd installment in the multi-billion franchise to become the best of the series. The third Bond outing starring Daniel Craig as 007 opened a full two weeks before its Nov. 9 domestic debut and placed No. 1 everywhere. The Sony and MGM pic commanded $32.4 million in the U.K., shattering several records. IMAX turned in $3.5 million from 27 theaters in 15 territories -- the exhibitor's largest opening ever for a non-holiday, non-summer title. "This picture has such an incredible DNA and to be so loved by critics and audiences alike will push it be one of the biggest, if not biggest, Bond pics," Sony worldwide president of distribution Rory Bruer said. Casino Royale, also starring Craig, is the top-grossing Bond pic to date, earning $599 million worldwide, including $432 million internationally. said Skyfall smashed the all-time Saturday attendance record in the U.K., as well as posting the No. 2 opening weekend in history, behind just the 3D Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2.
