Looks not going higher than 300m

 

Loonies that called 600m+ all along will be upset.

 

Avatar was expected to fail according to a lot of people, we can the outcome...I don't say it will boom, but it's probably the most underestimated movie of the year along WWZ.

FRIDAY 12:15 AM, 3RD UPDATE: Warner Bros says Legendary Pictures’ Pacific Rim opened #1 in all 7 Asian markets on Thursday grossing a total $3.7M from 2,157 screens despite a crowded international marketplace. Korea made $1.4M from 961 screens, Taiwan: $611K from 199 screens, Thailand $559K from 273 screens, Malaysia $348K from 207 screens, The Philippines $283K from 277 screens, Indonesia $249K from 168 screens,  Singapore $240K from 72 screens. those asian markets are too small to impact. the only real money contributions in asia will come from china and japan. the rest of the world it is a flop.

Those markets are too small to make a big impact individually, but if you combine them then they start adding up to something more significant.

There are more than 600m people in Southeast Asia now.

 

The Southeast Asian film market will maintain high growth and show power and strength in next 20-30 years.

 

Vietnam is a very small market despite its population (95m) but in the long term the potential is big, it could become like Japan nowadays or even bigger.
