Goffe
But you're not really saying anything. MU made $700m+. Is that nuff said? Cars 2 was terrible, opened in 2011 (markets expansion) and Cars wasn't beloved like Monsters Inc. Edited August 31, 2013 by Goffe
druv10
Cars 2 made 560m, nuff said Not saying a lot since MU will make 170M more. 730-740M WW can never be bad for a movie especially animated one since it'll get into black before theatrical release is over and rest of the ancillary especially toys are pure profit for Disney/Pixar. lab276
Cars 2 was terrible, opened in 2011 (markets expansion) and Cars wasn't beloved like Monsters Inc.There's also been a contraction in some European markets since then, most notably Spain and Italy and France to a lesser extent. druv10
I'm done with this discussion as we're just rehashing the same points. We'll just agree to disagree on how successful MU has been.

kayumanggi
Up made fvcking 438m in 2009!! That was the year when 3D became hot stateside and overseas. Also, please remember that back in 2009, UP had a more staggered release date. It also had 5 weeks of almost no competition since MONSTERS VS ALIENS had been moved to March of that year. ICE AGE: DOTD opened in July. MU's release dates overlapped with those of DM ll, MOS and WWZ, three of the biggest films this summer, not to mention slight competition from EPIC, TURBO and THE SMURFS ll. iceroll
SATISFACTORY. IS. NOT. ENOUGH. FOR. ME!! this is Pixar, not a random Dreamworks movie Um, 730m would be right in the middle of where everyone predicted for the BSG, especially this bolded cluster, which is within 50m: Monsters University (47/47) cmasterclay - $1.0B druv10 - $940M Goffe - $930M glassfairy - $873M Vanilla - $850M c00k13 - $840M IronMan89 - $835M Neo - $830M RichWS - $825M kitik - $820M Schumacher FTW - $812M Kayumanggi - $810M junkshop38 - $807M Punishment - $800M DAR - $800M iTz ED - $795M Jay Salahi - $793M Newbie - $789M Iron Olive - $785M 24Lost - $785M acsc1312 - $780M Jake Gittes - $776M chasmmi - $775M Dexter of Suburbia - $750M Iceroll - $750M grim22 - $750M JackO - $750M ChFloppit - $735M narniadis - $725M The Stingray - $725M Simionski - $725M baumer - $725M gizmo - $725M Michael G Scott - $700M Sam - $700M CEDAR - $691M CJohn - $685M CURRENT TOTAL - $658.6M Mattrek - $650M laguy03 - $650M Telemachos - $633M ShawnMR - $625M Tower - $600M Fake - $600M Filmovie - $595M TLK - $560M Blankments Into Darkness - $555M TylerDurden365 - $550M Meanwhile, you with your 930m prediction sits way near the top. Just because it didn't match your prediction doesn't mean it was a disappointment, most people were able to come up with a realistic prediction for it. Olive
It would be really nice for it to break 500M OS, but seems not likely unless break out huge in SK.
druv10
Wow, massive week for MU. It made 26.1M(-4.0%) and with SK yet to come, 480M looks very likely with outside shot at 500M. Edited September 1, 2013 by druv10

keysersoze123
obviously week to week gross in China is higher. Next week will see a big drop and SK wont be that much of a factor. Still a solid run specially in Asia.
