Olive
No one said it flopped, we are just happy it's decreasing from the first.

Olive
Nope. Shitty movies deserve to die. The Smurfs 2 is one of them.
JCS
Why compare Smurfs 2 and Star Trek 2? Smurfs 2 is failing on its own terms like it deserves to.
A Marvel Fanboy
Why compare Smurfs 2 and Star Trek 2? Smurfs 2 is failing on its own terms like it deserves to. Smurfs 2 fails ? Okay, then Flopness failed on its own terms where it shouldnt.
JCS
Smurfs 2 fails ? It's gross DOM and especially OS gross are very poor and disappointing as a sequel following the wildly successful Smurfs, yes. No need to mention Star Trek, just talking about Smurfs 2 as a sequel.
tupek
People over estimated the potential of Star Trek. Not a few thought it would make $400 m. domestically. Thats on one hand. On the other hand, at least it surpassed the WW gross of its predecessor. As for The Smurfs 2. It will gross almost $200 less than the first movie WW. Though less people had increasing expectatives about that. The Smurfs 2 is more disappointing in my opinion.
A Marvel Fanboy
STID gross DOM and especially OS gross are very poor and disappointing as a sequel following the wildly successful 09 Trek, yes. fixed for you.
JCS
Star Trek was not, and still is not, a big franchise OS but Smurfs was so this is the Smurfs thread so we talk about it's poor OS gross. I don't really care about Star Trek if it does good or bad.
tupek
It was not a big franchise overseas, still almost all people had predictions over $500 million for Trek 2. And still, at first glance, it was not a hard feat: the 2009 reboot made $386m WW. $500m WW looked easy to get. And its not getting there. CJohn
STiD increased 16% WW over his previous movie. Smurfs will decrease around 35% WW over his previous movie. So fuck your ridiculous logic firedeep and stop trolling. Smurfs 2 won't even make 70M DOM. Fucking pathetic. Tower
This is the Smurfs thread. Also, Star trek went up WW, Smurfs went down. Star Trek didn't do very well but Smurfs is just terrible. Edited August 27, 2013 by Tower
John Marston
Yeah I'm not sure why fire deep keeps bringing up Trek. Talk about Treks disappointing performance in the Trek thread
A Marvel Fanboy
Who cares about what the previous movies did. Truth is Smurfs 2 is more profitable than Flopness, and that's all matters. thus makes Flopness a bigger disappointment than Smurfs.
POLYLOVE
Star trek is so innocent to be your benchmark. Anyway, shitty movies deserve to die, for the good of movie industry.

A Marvel Fanboy
Not really. Smurfs 2 is obviously more profitable because it has half budget of STiD.
Dilusha Bandara
Sony would have thought 400 OS would be a lock for this shit! Poor Sony. Their worst nightmare came true, this summer! Edited August 27, 2013 by The Joker
