Kung Fu Panda 3' Moves Out of 2015 to Avoid 'Star Wars'

 

Same date as Allegiant Part 1, a week after Warcraft and a week before Batman v Superman, also 2 weeks after Zootopia. Not exactly a better date than a week after SW7 and same day as MI5, especially over Christmas.

Damn. I was really curious to see how to the Christmas release would work out for a major animated film. If they could have gotten it to work, it might have opened up a whole new avenue for DWA.

So DWA has only 1 film releasing in 2015? That could help them, give them time to "rethink" everything; to get their stuff back in order and work out financials; instead of trying to release 3 more movies a year.

I wouldn't be surprised if BOO ends up in October 2015. DWA currently doesn't have a summer 2016 so Boss Baby or Trolls could end up moving to July or August 2016

I wouldn't be surprised if BOO ends up in next October, and Boss Baby goes to summer 2016. Not sure if DWA might push Trolls to 2017 or not; the weekend it's opening in right now is awful.

Somehow, I think they chose an even worse date. It's sandwiched between Zootopia and BvS. Also, this leaves Home as literally the studio's only film in 2015, unless they move up Boss Baby.

What would happen if Disney bought DWA? I imagine that would be all of Jeffrey Katzenberg's worst nightmares come true.

Disney don't need DWA, they already have the best two CGI animation studios.

THey have Marvel, Star Wars, the re telling of fairy tales with modern VFX.

Disney s calendar is probably set until 2050 already.

I do imagine the IPs of Shrek, Dragon, and Madagascar would be pretty appealing to them if they could snap it up at a low price.

Damn it! Now I can't use this as an excuse not to see Star Wars. Well... Now I'll probably see Star Wars in theaters out of curiosity... I feel like a loser.
