The Raid | Remake | Sony offered the lead role to Taylor Kitsch

Do you guys think Statham looks good in his films?  I do, and he doesn't know martial arts at all.

What martial artist are you going to put in the American remake?

Sony rebooting a practically new franchise for a cash grab.

Wait, are you saying that a studio wants to make a movie to make some money?

That's never been done before.

Klingo already answered. Scott Adkins.

No one knows who he is.  You need a name actor to headline a film like this.

What would the marketing campaign be?  "Starring the guy who fought Jason Statham in Expendables 2"

Because people know Taylor Kitsch or want to remember him.

"Starring the guy from the flops John Carter, Battleship and Savages".

Yeah that's a helluva better than an actual capable martial artist who could finally catch his big break with this remake to get him out of DtD ghetto and 3rd tier roles in the shadows unlike Kitsch which was given a chance and blew it off 2 times in a row.

Like people knew who Kitsch was when he headlined John Carter and Battleship?

People know Kitsch.  He was also in Lone Survivor.  You're not going to put a straight to DVD actor in your remake of a film that you are hoping to make money off of.  Not unless you are planning on not releasing it theatrically.  Kitsch is a hell of a lot better than someone no one knows.

I doubt people recognized Kitsch under that hobo beard and really cared about him since Lone Survivor was a Wahlberg vehicle and sold on Marky Mark's name not Kitsch.

Forget Kitsch, although he is much more marketable than someone who no one knows.  But you need a name in order to give the film a chance at Hollywood money, not the 2-4 mill the Raid has made here in NA.

Hey, I don't know why Adkins who is a martial artist known by a niche of action flicks fans is any different than Kitsch which was only known by a niche starring in an obscure TV show that 99% of people in NA didn't watch and got canceled at one point. The same Kitsch who get to headline a 250M Avatar wannabe produced by Disney afterwards.

The Raid remake which is martial arts based can't be headlined by a martial artist known by the same niche that like The Raid?
