In May 2011 George Lucas stated that 50 episodes had been written, but that the series is on hold awaiting advances in technology and reductions in prices.[6] McCallum has elaborated on this, contrasting the high production costs of the series with current developments in TV production,[4] and highlighting the question of monetization in the era of online distribution against the backdrop of the collapse of traditional TV broadcasting.[11]

After Lucas's retirement from blockbuster moviemaking in 2012,[16] McCallum indicated that should production move forward, Lucas would probably take an active supervisory role similar to how he produced The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.[15]

Lots of unknowns. I do think the time for a "Dark Times" era TV show has come and gone by now.I'd much rather they'd set the TV show during one of the great crisis eras of the Old Republic, which would be a lot more unfamiliar to modern audiences and allow the showrunners to tinker with what the B-level and C-level canon has already established (the comics, video games, sourcebooks, other works such as the Essential Guide to Warfare, etc) to create a coherent A-level canon that fully meshes what the scraps we know from the films.
