Even if this has a decent opening, Beasts and Moana are going to destroy its legs

Beasts is a PG-13 tentpole with mild crossover and Thanksgiving week is almost always kind to holdovers (sub-30% drops being the norm, for kids movies - 5 to 20% drops common).

I wouldn't say its legs will be 'destroyed' - it'll hold about the same as most early November animated openers IMO. Veteran's Day should give it a stellar 2nd weekend hold. If it does $50-55 million OW, I wouldn't be shocked to see it do $40-43 million 2nd weekend and finish in 1st place.

$42 million

$33.5 million ($86 million)

$17 million ($108 million)

$12.5 million/$18.5 million ($130 million)

$5 million ($136 million)

$4 million ($141 million)

$2 million ($143 million)

$1.5 million ($146 million)

$1 million ($149 million)

$152-154 million DOM total

Without Moana, I'd say it reaches $170-175 million DOM, but $20 million less (before the likely $300-450 million OS total) isn't going to make a big difference in terms of profitability.

The RT consensus is now up and it says:

Trolls brings its instantly recognizable characters to the big screen in a colorful adventure that, while geared toward the younger set, isn't without rewards for parents.

So this film ended up in the reception similarly along with Mr. Peabody & Sherman & Madagascar 3. :D

And y'all thought it was gonna be like Shark Tale, lol. Trolls actually turned out with a much better reception than that film. :P

So there is literally a 50/50 chance of me liking this... What are the odds.

I hope this helps DW out a bit...well enough for the inevitable cartoon show on Netflix.

What does "instantly recognisable characters" even mean? Is anyone seriously suggesting they know the names of troll dolls? smh. this film was poooooor.

How can you tell? Have you even seen it? Becaus you wanted it to be??

Btw, your tastes in movies this year doesn't really make that much sense. I mean, you dislike Finding Dory, Zootopia, Doctor Strange, Captain America: Civil War.....yet you like Warcraft? What the hell?!!

At least 3 of those 4 movies did great at the box office due to great quality. (Doctor Strange comes out soon)......while Warcraft was so badly hated that it dropped harshly the second weekend after it's OW and had a short run in theaters.

Quality does matter for blockbusters in order for them  do money.

Plus that Tree doesn't know the differences between good movies that has a staying power in theaters & great legs....and bad movies that drops harshly, have terrible legs & vanish out of theaters quicker.

Yeah I saw it a couple weeks ago. Was looking forward to it as I had seen a funny clip from it.

I'm glad you remember which films I like and dislike. It's alright, chill :)  I was just slightly annoyed by how bad this was. It is for kids only, has nothing in it that adults would enjoy. Just quite out of date and cynical imo.

You say quality matters, I don't think "quality" has anything to do with success since quality is a subjective opinion that will differ from each person. I mean, Batman v Superman was disliked by virtually everyone who saw it, and yet it made bucketloads of money.

In contrast... Warcraft is fantastic. B)

I just watched Warcraft the other day for the 5th time and still love it.

Yeah, but here's the thing though, about Batman V Superman.

That film had a lot of momentum of doing huge business....and the concept of seeing both Batman & Superman together was something new in a live action blockbuster. And also....it had a lot of hype going for it. And while.......other people didn't like that movie and felt disappointed by it.....at least BvS did $330M DOM & $873M, which is still a large sum of money.

And you do have a great point of subjective opinion.....since i did like BvS on DVD.

And then again....i haven't seen Warcraft yet....so i can't be that harsh on it.
