The Dark Alfred
"Spielberg's return to fantasy adventure is a joyful ride" "Beautiful, well-acted, exciting warp-speed entertainment, even a bit moving - the kind of film that shows that, like it or not, commercial cinema can still deliver a sledgehammer punch." 5. The Dark Alfred
"The cast is strong (notably Owen and Hardy), the pacing lively, and the sets and the battles impressive." "This is an old-fashioned historical saga, a throwback to the sand-and-sandals epics of Quo Vadis and Ben-Hur." 3. Alesia
The Dark Alfred
"The best ensemble performance of the year ." "Just when you thought that director has done it all, he reinvents himself with a taut tour de force of a film that is unquestionably the best thing he's done in decades." 2. The Dark Alfred
And finally the film of the year is revealed. Is it a five star? "Undeniably one of the most emotionally-draining films of the year" "Another triumph for Paul Thomas Anderson" Oh, wait... It's not a PTA film!!! Why is that? I mean the feel of the film, the narrative, the characters, even the cast - it has the footprint of PTA all over it, who cares if you just won the Oscar last year? Not a bad director's choice, but not perfect, that stops it from being a five star. It should have been a PTA film and you know it. Nevertheless... "One of the most enthralling and exhilarating American movies in ages." 1. The Road Home Edited September 20, 2012 by The Dark Alfred

The Creator
I almost put PTA but I didn't want to overuse him since I did just use him last year. I also felt it was his type of film and did use some of his characteristic cast (John C. Reilly and Julianne Moore). Gus Van Sant works as well, but it did have PTA's feel to it. Now I really have to check out Wenan to make sure that film has PTA's feel.
