I must first say I am a huge fan of the original Frankenheimer film so I was very worried about this film but it finally it might be the best remake I've seen. Completes and updates the original and transforms it into something else. It also perfectly works in color (unlike the wasted Psycho). The actors are fantastic and the film is very Today. Very paranoid, a dark view on America as a fascist state. The plot works even better than on the original, with the global corporations and the fact that now we know so much about brainwashing. There is a somewhat well known brainwashing act called the MK-Ultra that made headlines a few years back in which the very stuff you see in this movie was done and it was chronicled. You can look at some recent events and just wonder, possibly, is something like what this movie tells us about actually at work today?9/10

I liked this movie. Thought it was brilliant. Was odd to see Denzel play the part of a paranoic. This movie was full of good actors. Meryl Streep as the mother gave a slightly different portrayal than Angela Lansbury in the original. But she was just as chilling in her own way. I thought Liev Schreiber did a good job as the brainwashed son as well. Although I love the original I felt this one had a great deal more suspense. Probably had to do with the way it was directed. It's been a while since I've seen it. Will have to watch it again.
