****3/4 out of *****The best comic book film ever at the time of its release, eclipsed only by its sequel.Nolan's 7+ year reign as "CBM god" began here, and he's been playing 'keep away' with the title from Marvel, Darkhorse and the rest of DC ever since.

Very great movie but it gets eclipsed in some regard by TDK, and TDKR because I just felt that the scarecrow wasn't nearly as cool as the joker or bane, despite cilian murphy delivering a strong performance. Additionally I felt the scope wasn't quite as broad as TDK or TDKR. But in every other aspect it is really strong.A-

I feel that too, but BB has much more emotion and wins for that Edited by Goffe Bond

It probably would be viewed more favorably if it had a more iconic villain rather than several smaller villains but still very enjoyable and about as good as TDK. Also the end, with the Joker card, gave me chills. We had no idea what was coming at the time.

100% this

It is kinda dry imo and Liam Neeson as a villain is about as menacing as a cream cheese sandwich, but its still impeccably put together by Christopher Nolan and as far as blockbusters go its a good one.

4/5

This film is about how Bruce became Batman, and that was done beautifully because it gave not only BB, but also the whole trilogy a deeper meaning than any earlier batman films. In that case, Neeson was just in this film in sense of "OK, we can't have no villain in a batman film, so let's just put him in so we will have a "good defeating evil" ending." Obviously, that was a terrible villain.

The side villains (Falcone and Scarecrow) were definitely more interesting and lively, but on the other hand this is the only Batman film of the 7 made that truly focuses on Batman so I don't mind that at all.

Never seen any complaints about the villain outside here

Does Nolan give you an erection? Serious question.

They didn't "just put him in so we have a good defeating evil ending." He is Bruce's mentor and helps guide him to vigilantism. The key difference is that Ra's is more willing to take things a step further and engage in terrorist acts. As far as villains go in a superhero movie, that one makes a lot more sense than a lot of others. At least he ties directly into the main character's story arc.

He's basically an amalgamation of such characters as Magneto, Hannibal Lector, and the Emperor.
