Sure but seems dumb to limit it to 4. RDJ and Evans were Iron Man/Captain in how many movies? 8 or 9?

If she has three Wonder Woman movies, and she was in BvS, JL, and supposed to be in the flash that’s already 6 appearances before any other projects we know of.

Patty said last year at the CCXP that even a fourth film is possible because there are a lot of history to tell. They paid her dust for decades while she is from the trinity and saw both Batman and Superman with a lot of reboots, series and animated movies. She deserves it.

They can even continue the franchise with Yara Flor, Nubia or Donna Troy.

Are we finally ready for this conversation?

This was already essentially confirmed in one of the many trade pieces about this debacle.  It was attributed to either Sarnoff or another high-ranking Warners exec. whose opinion was apparently that Warners knew that they "didn't have a strong 2021 slate."

I would’ve thought that the fourth Matrix movie would be a strong release from a financial perspective. I mean, Keanu Reeves is big right now, and nostalgic revivals have been all the rage in the past five years.

At the very least, are they confident enough in The Batman (which is now being released in 2022) to not dump it to streaming?

I would say that these are two farther-ahead, and yes, higher-confidence projects.  We're talking most of the already-completed projects here that were done and originally slated for 2020 or 2021.

It's telling that Matrix 4 doesn't appear on the HBOMax slate on their page, despite being mentioned in all the initial announcements.

THE BATMAN has near 100 million trailer viewers on youtube and will easily by the highest opener since END GAME when it opens. WB better not fuck that up!

Since they have mismanaged their IP material so much, time think about what other source material exists that they could turn into a hit. Their upcoming slate aside from Batman and Matrix and the LeBron Space Jam movie is fucking awful. Do something

  • They should push Bradley Cooper towards direct, produce & star in a big-budget telling of the PEARL HARBOR story.
  • Sign DiCaprio to the FRANK SINATRA biopic he should have done 20 years ago.
  • Roll out a remake of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD.
  • Let Brad Bird do a live action IRON GIANT remake.
  • Pay whatever it takes for INCEPTION 2 or POTTER 9.

Them cupboards are EMPTY.

What has happened to Warners during the last few years -- most of this can be chalked up to AT&T's takeover.  But I think it was changing a bit before that, too.  They are definitely giving the entire town of Hollywood the impression that they no longer care about making quality movies anymore...and now, do not care about what they do with them once they're finished.  It's tremendously sad to see this once-great studio implode so badly.  Especially after seeing 20th Century FOX effectively disappear under Disney, as well.

The HBO Max thing they can fix, quickly and easily. The complete lack of material based on existing source is a downright inexcusable position to be in in 2021. BATMAN and rogues gallery alone could be their own hugely popular universe, while others like Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquabro are all rock solid hits that could go even higher with quality. But they're so behind in this area that it's mind boggling.

They're going to have to get quite creative.

WB had a great 2018 in which all of their movies were at least profitable so their best days most certainly aren't behind them. Every studio goes through a lull every now and then. Even Sony has been making a comeback in recent years after everybody was ready to dance on their graves when they were struggling following the hack. Of course now everybody is looking to make a comeback equally following the nightmare that was 2020.

A live-action The Iron Giant remake is probably inevitable. They already included the character in Ready Player One. Just like it's only a matter of time until Disney/20th Century announce a live-action remake of Anastasia is coming (though not until they've given the few remaining 90s Disney titles with box office potential the same treatment first).

Honestly, yeah I can see WB release a shitty Iron Giant remake that misses the point of the original on HBO Max or something.

Think it would be more likely to go theatrical because of the challenge of creating the title character in live-action CGI for a possible Visual Effects Oscar nomination/win.

Not if in the right hands. Did you think American Sniper, IT and Joker were all terrible ideas too ?

-PEARL HARBOR in the right hands is a high profile, awards caliber film with $1 billion global potential; much-less known/important event (from American perspective) DUNKIRK did $188/$521; 917 wasn't even a high profile release and did $400m; PH is much more famous and "cinematic" + there is a marketing blueprint leftover from the 2001/1970 PH films; this type of thing as the next JJ Abrams or Bradley Cooper or Sam Mendes vehicle released in December would do some real money. Obviously if it had a D-List cast and looked like a video game, it would be more like "MIDWAY"

-SINATRA starring Leo would be a solid $150m/$500m ww gross; just watch and see how well ELVIS does

-TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD is a classic that would make bank over the holidays, get the right person as Atticus (Tom Hanks or George Clooney possibly) and make is a Christmas release and this does well throughout January and into February no doubt

-IRON GIANT we all know

-INCEPTION 2 - with both Leo and Nolan - is a $1 billion+ grosser easily

-POTTER 9 would challenge DA FORCE AWAKENS

If you want a war movie equivalent, why not do the Christmas truce of WWI - there can actually be tension and build up, and an uncertainty on the movie goer's part on how one ends the movie (at the truce point, or at the broken truce and war point:)...(this war event was done in Joyeux Noel, but that movie never really busted out of festivals and was never big budget like the last Pearl Harbor film)...

Plus, depending how one decides to plot it, it could be a great Vet's Day to Christmas release...
