Confirmed leaks so far (we know they are real but now there are receipts):

Kylo dies? Yes

Bendemption? Yes

Reylo kiss? Yes

Trio? Marketing ploy mostly

Rey Palpatine? Literally his granddaughter

Rey, Rey Skywalker? Yep, takes the name in the end

The major issue with hiring Abrams to "course-correct" after TLJ is that it's a trilogy. The biggest problem was always going to be that if they were focused so intently on trying to course-correct from TLJ that they would end up making a film that is both structurally and emotionally unable to reach its potential.

I'll bet that once reviews are out, the thing people are going to criticize the most about this film is that it tries to do too much in too little time. But maybe not. I'm seeing this in 34 hours.

It. Begins.

Lol I feel like these goofy weirdo "Reylo" people (check her Twitter header) are lost Twilight fans and we quickly need to find them a constant stream of sappy preteen romance fiction in order to keep them away from more mature properties.

I'm going to guess somewhere in the 70s on RT for this, based on these early reactions.

I liked a lot of TLJ, but it didn't get me hyped for the next one, since Johnson really did kind of wrap up his character arcs and made a film that felt complete (which is kind of odd to do in the middle of a trilogy, but whatever).

I'm just hoping for something decent, but a lot of fun and, really importantly, immensely rewatchable because, you know, it's going to be in the SW rewatch mix regardless.

I think where JJ really excelled in TFA (besides casting and getting great performances out of his actors) was in some really superb action sequences (Finn-Poe escape, Rey-Finn Falcon chase on Jakku), so I'm hoping for a lot of those.

Holy shit this is Game of Thrones S8 all over again. I have never seen the first reactions be this bad/mixed. Like wow, and for Disney and Star Wars this is not a good look.

Majority of the tweets are very positive. Only a couple of mixed ones and one who was disappointed.

Jesus Scott, tell us how you really feel...

No, but seriously, is it just me or is that a really oddly candid slam for a red carpet first reaction?

Any of the tweeters who liked TFA say how their opinion of this compares to that?

That's probably a lot more instructive than having them compare it to TLJ.

One thing no one is saying is, "Oh, this movie just rehashing all the beats from XYZ Star Wars movie," so Abrams clearly wanted to avoid that this time around.  (Whoops.  The tweet in the next post does just that!)

It may not be GOTS8 but reactions are not  many would have expected. All depends on how GA likes it now.
