The rule is that the movie closes whenever it gets a wide release*. (The exact limit is the BOM one, 600 theaters.) Theoretically so people have a reasonable chance to see the movie. So a lot of the smaller Oscar contenders and arthouse movies can be out for weeks before they finally are "closed" on this list.

I think New Mutants has probably gotten more total votes from me than any other movie, since it became eligible a full 2 years ago. I don't think I voted for it all 104 weeks, but it was in there for most of them I think. And now with likely another full year of votes to come, it'll surely set some imaginary record for most votes received from a single person in this game, if it's not there already.

 

Suffice it to say, hopefully no other movie beats that record, for the sake of the fans of those movies.
