Disney has been very careful when giving weekend estimations about IW for every market (domestic, overseas ) so if Disney gave an estimate of over 200 million it was an almost sure bet that it actually made 200 million. I expect both the u.s and os results to be higher than disney’s estimates again for this weekend.

Disney gets its estimates from the exact same sources as this forum. In fact, the Chinese insiders in this forum are probably better informed than anyone at Disney...

The studio decides everything. They could have sources saying lower, but then chose to report higher/lower estimate. They are not bound to report the exact same figure as the industry tells them.

Not true at all in china. Studios are completely blind and reliant on the same sources we follow here.

 

It took Hollywood and China years to agree on a third party audit and that was essentially a one time thing.

Depends on the competition. IW has not much competition. But because of the huge opening, we can expect 1.7-1.8x multiplier.

I wont hope for good legs. The weekend itself showed frontloadedness and its multi’s were the one of the lowest ever. 

However it was not due to bad WoM or bad rating like Black Panther but due to the sheer size of the money it made. 

 

This frontloaded nature will also be seen in the legs where a movie with this good rating should have managed at least a 2x multi but will fall short of it due to how much demand was burned off in the OW. 

 

But as I’ve mentioned many times it has no significant competition for a few weeks (unless something breaks out unexpectedly) so it should be able to better retain its screens which could help it develop somewhat decent legs. 

 

There is no normal for this size OW because this size OW are not normal. But FF8 little over 2x as the FF franchise is still bigger here
