What a horrendous month for legendary pictures If KOTM wom not good

both detective Pikachu and Godzilla in China just nowhere near projections

can’t really feel bad for them. You can’t choose CGI over story and characters.

You put 10 star makeup on a average girl. The makeup will look good at first but will wear off as the time goes by.

Just like how cgi looks at first then movie gets annoying with no substance

Detective Pikachu’s WoM in China and most parts of Asia is above average.... and it’s weekend holds in China have been strong.

Not sure why you deemed it as a big failure.

Disney don’t choose because Chinese government is doing the marketing.

not true. Disney is handling marketing of their movies in China. On paper, CFGC is the distributor but it has always been Disney executing pratically.

I went to KOTM, strong VFX but weak/dumb characters, my perception is no Maoyan 9.5, thinking maybe 9.2, as WOM should be more close to Rampage than Aqm. 1B is safe but 1.5B will be tough with such competition.

What's the biggest competition going to be? I mean Dark Pheonix looks like it will do bad in China (based on presales).

How will the Maoyan rating for KOTM be compared to another creature feature-flick like JW:FK last year? Considering that one made $261M in China. Better or around the same rating?

Aladdin can give it a run for 300m, a great result after a pathetic presale run. I see it drop low 50% next weekend despite Zilla.

Sadly that be very good versus initial expectations.

Maoyan scores will differ. But bo legs could be similar. likely KOTM has higher score but lower (maybe not by much) BO than JWFK.

True, pretty much. Since the JW-films are a more higher & phenomenal level of a beast-franchise (no pun-intended). Something other ”creature feature”-franchises wishes to be.

Better rating but much more competition.
