Nope. That's 2.4x multi. Won't happen with that current Maoyan rating of the movie. Maybe 1.7x to 1.8x multi.

Last weekend when Godzilla previewed, you were saying that Legendary can't catch a break and Detective Pikachu was doing badly in China.. Now you bring up its 2.3x multiple.. lol.

It had a 2.3 because it was a decent film that had a horrible opening. People initially talked about 250m in China, then 200, then 150, then 100 and when it opened to 40, 70m was discussed. The extra 20ish is impressive but overall total is just ok.

One thing I heard about Dark Phoenix is - the local distribution team would like to organize a fan screening with a cinema, which is good for both of them. But the condition from the distribution team is that cinema would make sure every audience who attend the screening will give high score on Maoyan or Taopiaopiao ticket site.

 

This is indeed something rare.

Yes. Some powerful local distributor tried to do this by buying real tickets and giving high score in the past, but it is always useless. If this is  blockbuster, few fake reactions won't bring much effects to it.

I inquired about this. Local distribution partner iQiyi will hold many fan screenings in big cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen(could be more). Fans can get the tickets for the price of just $1-1.5 even free, and all those screenings have the same condition I mentioned.

I know iQiyi as the company/platform behind those Idol Producer shows. They’re shady as hell.
