55mil for Tenet as of now, 800 is trailing behind with 51+m. There’s possibility that Tenet may not on top today 😳

Very curious to see how 800 vs Tenet vs Mulan shake out next weekend.   

 

8.7 is nothing to write home about, though early amd could rise. $60 not guaranteed for full run, but probably makes it.

Good thing is that there is no competition. Yeah Dolittle did $20mn even months after piracy but I have no idea how Mulan gonna do next week. Whatever the case,  the film will perhaps have 10k plus shows till end of month, unless it drop badly.

PS for tomorrow seems huge. Around 26mn. Something that will suggest 90-95mn Saturday, but I have already lost interest in the film in China, so whatever.

 

Asia except Taiwan and Saudi Arabia has been a huge downer for TENET.

there are still some asian markets to come, at the same time, lets see how tommorrow will be for tenet, it may hit your range

This will just narrow hit 30m, far lower than 45m that we initially hope, even the more conservative project will put it around 40m. Going by this rate, this may not even beat Inception total from 10 years ago.

To be fair, China is the only handful of countries that Tenet can't be marketed as the first tentpole as 800 nearing 400m total. It Also have more intense competition from holdover and upcoming new release.

Tenet down to 8.6 now, hopefully can avoid 8.5.   
 

On the other hand, Sat PS above my expectation for sure. 3AM about 25% above Fri should give it a good chance to clear ¥90 today. From there can probably be more like $33 than $30.

at least for china, most of us predicted around 40 mill ow for tenet there

Surely the first sentence is reversed from what you meant? Openings might be fairly close now.     
 

Not sure I would call the China WOM good, especially since it has some chance to settle at 8.5. More like “okay.”

Yeah I meant closer. Not sure how less got it in 🤭

Last year was really awful for Hollywood in China. Hollywood did mere 18Bn (16.75Bn without Ticket Booking Charges) in China in 2019, as compared to 16Bn in 2015 or 14Bn in 2014.

 

The saving grace were CBMs, which did like 7.7Bn, while in 2014 that was just 2.6Bn and 2Bn in 2015.

So without CBMs, Hollywood was 9.5Bn last year, compared to 11.4Bn in 2014 and 14Bn in 2015.

 

Growth in China seems to be way higher for local films than Hollywood.

 

Local films in 2014 were 16Bn, 27Bn in 2015 while 40Bn last year.

Another very PS heavy day, more like ¥80M current guess. And Maoyan down to 8.5 indeed. 30x2 maybe? Seems like Mulan reception won’t make it a big problem next weekend.
