is this number pure friday or adding thursday previews?

Pure Friday. There are no Thursday previews in China mostly. The midnight screenings also start on Friday post midnight only. Just that box office system counts a day 6AM to 6AM, so they consider those after midnight shows in Thursday.

so it turns out that SW:TFA is the last non-chinese film that will have the record for highest single territory grosser

Yes pretty much. And nothing surprising there. China is biggest cinema market in the world for some years now. Had biggest admits for a film record in modern history. Only right it has biggest film in terms of money as well when tickets are increased and exchange rate improving.

I think this data is very interesting, cause USA+ Canada (Dom) had the record for highest grosser in single territory for over 105 years, maybe more, but at least 105.

There are few records that last so long, maybe they won´t have it again....

So around :

$160M

$130M

$140M

= $430M weekend, not bad.

Lol, not bad. It would shatter the old record of EG OW which had previews rolled in. If we look at FSS it would be 430M+ vs 297M for EG. That's what I call absolutely destroying the previous record.

Maoyan score is now 9.1. The actual reception may be close to 8.7ish considering the initial spamming.

Not in like immediate threat but $1B isn't that safe yet. Let's see how weekdays goes. From here even an ordinary trend will see it over $1B, but knowing how large can China deviate, let's see.
