TM is going to be down to 12-15% screen's on friday from 35% today, 27% on thursday. It'll need to hold at least - 55% w/o/w this weekend to get there. Possible but no longer likely with that screen count

TalismanRing
I'm surprised at The Martian's legs on the weekdays and shocked it might have less screens this w/e than Point Break.

Happily or unhappily surprised? I think it had two good days on Sat and Sun and everything else has been weaker than hoped. This Thurs is 57% drop from last week. Not encouraging with theatre cuts coming.
jiangsen
On Screen China: Can ‘Point Break’ Ride Out the Crowded Weekend? China’s booming box office hit another milestone Thursday afternoon, passing RMB 40 billion ($6.25 billion) for the first time ever in a calendar year. All 12 months of 2014 produced a box office gross of RMB 29.6 billion. December could add an additional RMB 4 billion – 5 billion to the 2015 gross with the release of several high-profile local movies squeezing into another blackout period that will shut out imported competition. More than 30 films will be released in the “New Year’s slot” (贺岁档 hèsuì dàng), averaging one per day in the busiest and most competitive period in China’s short box office history.

Wow... they are not going to make much individually, is it not? No record breakers I suspect?

Big movies release on 12/18, 12/24 & 12/31. Ignore the rest. Mojin-The Lost Legend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUB7XgUke04 should be a record breaker. picores
Doeesnt look very good for PB right? And The Martian under $100m? C'mon China!
seduh
TM fell hard due to screen loss. The problem with China is that they give huge amount of screens to every movie that opens. Isn't it better to share screens and have more movies. TM will make more than PB for sure, they are loosing money by doing this.

What do people in China think went wrong here? It can't just be screens as most Hollywood movies face the same issue. Clearly the WOM just wasn't as good as anticipated. POTUS 2020
TM's BO % share more than doubled it screen % today. 22%/10%. All other movies were at or we'll below their screens. It's going back up to 15% on Monday and may be able to retain 10% for next weekend with this performance and have good hold.
