along with Venom Nov 9

Nov 2 --- The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

Nov 16 --- FB2

Nov 23 --- Ralph2

Nov 30 --- CRA

Dec 7 --- Aquaman

the last one is quite surprising

Woah yeah Aquaman is out 3 weeks early in China. Has that happened with any other major Hollywood production?

Apparently the Bollywood movie Hichki has opened decently for a Hindi movie, especially with it's concept. Looks like it's at 9.3 on Maoyan.

OW in China more than double its domestic OW

Warner Bros. summer hit Crazy Rich Asians has landed a lucrative release date in China, Asia's richest box-office territory, after all.

After weeks of doubt, Chinese regulators revealed Monday that the film would open in the massive market on Nov. 30.

In addition Crazy Rich Asians, a slew of high-profile Hollywood studio titles learned of their China release dates on Monday.

They include: Universal's The House With a Clock in Its Walls opening on Nov. 1; Disney's The Nutcracker and the Four Realms bowing Nov. 2, Sony's Venom on Nov. 11; Warner Bros.' Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald on Nov. 16; Disney animation Ralph Breaks the Internet on Nov. 23; and Warner Bros' much-anticipated DC superhero title Aquaman on Dec. 7.

It is understood that the Film Bureau badly wanted Alita on the Dec 7 slot to boost the year end box office. CBO in 2018 was so close to 60 billion, yet so far. One last straw is needed. But Fox failed China by moving Alita to Feb 14, in the hope of a V day China release (what a dream, wake up, Fox). In the eyes of the official regulaotors, Aquam is a replacement of making do, as Bumblebee was considered so big a tentpole that it landing on Dec 7 could swamp all local releases of Dec. So there you go, the King of the Seven Seas.

Not sure whether this is a good move from WB...

Aquaman pirated video will be out on Dec 7... once it releases in China. May not impact US box office, but will definitely damage box office in Latin America and Asia where Piracy is rampant.

Wouldn't these Dec local films hurt Aquaman legs? I'd hate to see another Ant Man / Fallout situation.

hahaha tbh no , If people wanna watch movie in theater then they will watch it there.

They happens all the time with MCU movies

The last I remember where a big Budget film released in China earlier than the rest of the world was Kung Fu Panda 3; release in Jan in China and March everywhere else... Pretty much got wrecked worldwide ,despite it being a solid sequel.

If Venom does $75-80 in China then it's locked to beat Ant-Man2 globally.

$205 dom + $80 China + $15 Japan + $340 OS-China-Japan* = $640 WW

*currently $235 after $70 weekend. So adding a reasonable $70*1.5 = $105 more

Read this from Comic Book Resource, not sure whether true?

“In the face of sharp declines, China has provisionally granted several high-profile Hollywood films with release dates; Venom will only have a wide release in China for 12 days.”
