Current top single market grosses in USD are:

TFA 936M

WW2 ~865M

Avatar 760M

Black Panther 700M

IW 678M

right? Could be shaken up a fair bit by the end of the year.

If it matters, TFA $936mn is including Canada. Star Wars: The Force Awaken USA alone is $840mn while Canada was $96mn. Comparing apples with apples, Wolf Warrior 2 without ticket booking charges was $810mn Approx.

Yeah, I was just counting US+Canada as a “single territory” and including ticketing fees because that’s how the numbers are reported, but I think it’s also interesting to compare with either or both choices toggled the other way.

I predict BP and Infinity War will both drop out of the top 5 by the end of the year replaced by The wandering earth and Avengers End Game which will both do over $700m

Wandering Earth between Avatar and TFA I think, and I agree Endgame has a good chance to bump Panther with 700+. It’s not entirely out of the question for TLK or IX to make it, but I’m pretty skeptical. And there could always be an unexpected movie later in the year in China that goes past 700M USD — it’s not likely, but WW2 was an unexpected summer monster so you never know for sure.

There will be some film from China in July Blackout period as well that may break out.

Besides, End Game I feel $700-800mn while The Lion King may go a level up as well.

The day started with around ¥330-350mn but the noontime was very strong. Added ¥32mn in one hour from 1300 to 1400, that's similar to the pace on Saturday evening. ¥360-380mn was considering that but it slowed down in the next three hours. Most likely it shall start picking up now.

Are you sure TWE will go over 700 million?

Sometimes Chinese movies drops like a rock after second week.

i really would love it goes really high, but maybe it´s soon to confirm this...

$700m is looking good. you're right, they can drop off quickly all of a sudden.  I have it dropping similar to WW2 and ORS on the last chart and come up with $772m  But its holding stronger for now pretty much locking in $700m even if it starts dropping 15% next T-Th
