Actually Phoenix was not that bad after seen it. People are being either too harsh or sheep.

 

Solid action design, fast pace, great visuals, great cinematograph, good performance. weak plot and paperthin villain though. Much better than Zilla still.

The Maoyan ratings are probably being review bombed with how high the 1-2% range is. But I thought you could only review if you bought a ticket. Anyway, with a more normalized rating, it would probably still be at ~8-8.2 so not great still. People tend to be harsher on things they have no/too much attachment to.

Most harsh critic in Denmark gave it 5/6 stars. He gave Endgame 3/6..

The difference between DP and AEG goes beyond taste..... That said I did enjoy DP far more than I thought I would, but that was at least in part due to my low expectations. The only thing that angers me is that they had some great opportunities with DOFP and Logan to end the franchise on a very high note, I really dont want this film to close the franchise

 

I digress. DP is an ok film, but not very crowdpleasing, Obviously it will disappoint financially (we all knew it would) but I hope it isnt an outright bomb. In general, reception seems to be better in Europe than in the US, hopefully thats true in LatAm as well.

 

Is DP's 80M first day an indication of an OK start in China?  How about KoTM? Is it doing better than expected?

You didn’t report Chasing the Dragon 2 and My Best Summer. Haha. 

 

My Best Summer has strong Maoyan score of 8.9; smart move by the studio to move it back 3 weeks from its original date. It somehow knew Chasing the Dragon II and Dark Phoenix will have below average WoM

I will answer that for Olive. Yes, slowing down because of lack of good films and bad economy. Actually 2019 will almost certainly be down from 2018.
