KOTM :- $9.37 M / $96.6 M

Aladdin :- $1.68 M / $44.4 M

Excellent day for all films ....

Will Sat show a bump for holdovers?

Hoping KOTM can do $10.5 on Sat and $8 on Sun for $115 cume after $27.5-$28 weekend.

$25 away from $140 and $35 from $150.

Lol. Then spend a few minutes googling.. no matter what this a China box office subforum; let’s give some respect to local movies instead of just worried about how Hollywood / Bollywood movie does there. Just a friendly reminder :)

Also chasing the dragon is from director Wong Jing; who is actually best known for his comedic roles/movies in Hong Kong decades ago, but went out to direct a series of crap movies in the past decade. Chasing the Dragon (first movie) was Wong Jing’s First solid movie in the past few years; with nominations in the HK film awards. It stars Donnie Yen (Rogue One/xXx: Return of the Xander Cage) and Andy Lau. The first one was a surprised hit and had solid WoM.

Wong Jing filmed the 2nd one; and wanted to carry on the momentum and had confidence in it; but WoM so far seems meh - not doing well in Southeast Asia this time as well. First one was quite bonkers in Southeast Asia.

Talking about respect for local movies, I think Donnie Yen has been in some of those... :redcapes:

Hahah, I know, but from recent posts, I am so fearful that if I bring up Ip Man or Wu Xia, no one will seem to know/care.

Any of our China experts up right now for a quick Saturday update? About noon now. Curious how KotM is doing!

XMDP tracking 75-80m -25%

GDZ and ALDN gained shows and will be close to flat. 65m and 13m

I'll let Tigerpaw update local films😎

So $45 4-day for DARKP more or less. With it's score 1.7-1.8x would be tough even off a 3-day ow.

So off the 4-day I think 1.5 * 45 = $67.5 is realistic.

Still more than SHAZAM. It's 4-day will itself beat SHAZAM's total. Shows how much SHAZAM got rejected.
