There was the running joke that it would be the highest grossing movie of 2019, beating Endgame, TLK blah blah, surpassing 2B, OW of 1B WW etc. (But a few seemed to be true believers then).

Eight Hundred— for “whitewashing"' the role of KMT in Anti-Japanese War

Better Days— for saying no to patriarchy

The Last Wish— for sexual content/desires (of young adult)

 

And more importantly these films have managed to tell their stories too well.

Yikes. So China box office will have to continue to rely on big Hollywood imports this year.

 

But its not official yet so hopefully they still get released.

That’s crazy to me. Yea it’s great for FFH and TLK, but at the expense of potentially amazing Chinese cinema. Sucks.
