keysersoze123
Run rates seem slower than what I thought. Mid point should be coming up soon as kids movie slow down dramatically in the evening. I would say 80m OD for Pikachu. Somewhere in mid 20's for Endgame. That should ensure ~ Ұ120m weekend ($17-18m). With next weekend being light on competition can it gross another Ұ200m. That should take endgame around Ұ4300 finish.

Did Pikachu take away all the Imax and PLF or is it sharing with Endgame. @Olive how many Imax and PLF in china?

So no breakout for this film either. I expect 1.7x to 1.8x multi.

But March-June & other time will be very tough for them. Local titles are strong doesn't mean import films are useless.

If I am not wrong domestic iMax count is 461 of which 30 are in museum/aquariums etc where big movies are rarely or never played. I have not seen much growth either. But other formates like Dolby, AMC Prime, XD and now screenX are coming up. But nowhere at the rate as china. I saw the report that by May 6 Endgame grossed Ұ500m in just iMax. At this rate we will soon see iMAX/PLF stand alone release. Jim Cameron could do it if he wants amazing picture quality for his movies. what's the ticket price diffrential? keysersoze123
I was looking at iMAX Q4 earnings call to see majority of new installations are in China. 95 new iMax screens in China against 145 globally. I doubt Domestic is contributing that many. https://seekingalpha.com/article/4244497-imax-corporation-imax-ceo-rich-gelfond-q4-2018-results-earnings-call-transcript?part=single (you need to register to view as a single page). IMAX made $337M in 2018, +16% over 2017 (local movies accounted for 30%, +24% from 2017) Q1 2019, IMAX BO increased 60% from last year..despite overall BO down. IMAX ticket prices are much higher than regular screens, also big gap in different cities. In beijing and Shanghai, could be as high as 300yuan(AEG had 400+ yuan tickets) In small cities, could be lower than 40 yuan.. As of end of 2018, 636 IMAX screens have been built (11 with Laser), there are 272 more planned (in contract). In 2010, when Avatar was released, there weren only 15 IMAX in China, maybe we'll have more than 1000 when A2 hits. 1

lorddemaxus
What is up with Detective Pikachu's abnormally high percentage of 1 or 2 out of 10 ratings on Maoyan? Its even higher than Shazam. Is it being brigaded for same reasons as Infinity War last year?
