redfirebird2008
Spidey doesn't have a release date yet? Possibly September 8th? If that is the case, I think Dunkirk is screwed. Spidey's opening will crush Dunkirk before it has a chance to grow any legs.
XO21
The effective summer blackout is set to end Aug. 25 when both “Cars 3” and “Baby Driver” cruise into Chinese multiplexes. “Dunkirk” follows on Sept. 1. The only other U.S. film currently known to have an August release date is “My Other Home,” which goes out Aug. 11, but that film, from Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, has a significant Chinese component in that it was produced by Beijing Forbidden City Film and dramatizes the life of basketball star Stephon Marbury as he discovers China. - Variety September will be packed

POTUS 2020
DM3 took a 50% show hit today and will drop a not too bad 25% to 32m. It wont lose shows tomorrow with a small opener taking shows from other films. Looking for a small bump to 40m on friday and 60ish on sat and sun for a 160m weekend down 63%. Not bad these days. A 240m week taking the total to 867m on thursday. With a weak slate of openers, the following week should score 100m or more and then another 35m. Im thinking 1000m/$147m will happen. 2.27x OW. TF5 lost 70% shows and will drop 66% to 2.35m. It is targeting a 1550m/ $228m total. Edited July 13, 2017 by POTUS

Great title... whole China loves Sun Wu Kong, but WoM made its Friday smaller than its Thurs. If its Saturday is sub 80m.... then many studios wil regret not taking that July 21 Weekend slot. Good weekend but everyone is avoiding...too afraid of competition.

The facial features and actions of Caesar and Apes are so great so natural. But it's not how "we" judge if a movie have great VE. They judge that by how many thrilling spectacles it shows, like Furious or TF series, "the best VE in human history." Also, the story won't work for most Chinese audience. It's a Impetuous era and it's too hard for them to have fun from a movie without complicated plots and fast-paced.

Yeah ,I kind of the got the feeling that Chinese audience won't like it too much after seeing it, it almost felt like it was created for fans of Dawn, generally people who liked Dawn would enjoy it, others perhaps not so much. The motion capture and visual effects were spectacular, too bad that it's not showy enough, I do think that Dawn should have won Academy best visual effect over interstellar, for some reason the visuals in this series are underappreciated across the board.
