Issac Newton
WK: Nov 12-14 (Fri-Sun) 1. 🇨🇳 Be Somebody : ¥127.7301M (~$20.01M) /¥139.6787M (~$21.88M) (4-days /OW) 🆕 2. 🇭🇰 Anita : ¥39.4276M (~$6.18M) / ¥40.3305M (~$6.32M) (OW) 🆕 3. 🇨🇳 The Battle At Lake Changjin : ¥31.0726M (~$4.87M) / ¥5645.4972 (~$884.51M) (46-days /8th WK /-44%) ↘️ 4. 🇬🇧 007: No Time To Die : ¥28.0319M (~$4.39M) / ¥370.6497M (~$58.07M) (17-days /3rd WK /-61%) ↘️ 5. 🇺🇲 Jungle Cruise : ¥20.6998M (~$3.24M) / ¥20.7020M (~$3.24M) (3-days /OW) 🆕 Unplaced Numbers (Total): 🇺🇲 Dune : ¥244.8981M (~$38.37M) (24-days) 🇯🇵 Departures : ¥60.8520 (~$9.53M) (17-days) 🇨🇳 My Parents, My Homeland : ¥1472.3193M (~$230.68M) (46-days) Liu Xunzimo's Thriller: Be Somebody has topped Chinese box office weekend with an impressive ¥127.7M (3-days) / ¥139.7M (4-days). While actuals of each days from Fri-Sun: ¥21.3454M /¥51.4465M /¥54.9382M. Although, Sun gross are always expected to lower than Sat's. But, the film has overcome expectations, adding up more ¥3M due to excellent WOM. The film will comfortably pass that ¥300M+ milestone. Cantonese film, Anita as always as tricky to understand it's phenomenon throughout the Chinese Weekend. Usually, starts low below TBALC at morning, gearing up slowly in the noon, nearing at afternoon, closing difference at Evening &overtaking at Night. Actuals from Fri-Sun: ¥11.3147M /¥15.4815M /¥12.6314M. The phenomenon is so strong that, I could easily predict ¥150M+ finishing line. The Battle At Lake Changjin, has dropped to 3rd (P.W.: 2nd) below two newcomers but has finally moved ahead of Daniel Craig's NTTD, without much competition. Actuals Fri-Sun: ¥6.4485M /¥14.3735M /¥10.2506M, giving us a total of ¥5645.4972M which is just ~¥49M away from Wolf Warrior 2 (¥5694M). The global phenomenon is reducing its hold every weekend but Bona not ready to give up &yet that title "The Highest Grossing Film in China" will soon be given to TBALC. Daniel Craig's 007: No Time To Die has dropped from top to fourth on it's third weekend. Actuals Fri-Sun: ¥6.4308M /¥13.2028M /¥8.3983M, missed out third by just ~¥3M. Well, the final finishing for NTTD is planned to be higher than $60M, for which we will be able to see a clear image by the end of this Sunday. Jungle Cruise's piracy &low ratings at Douban did affected it's gross. Yet, The Rock's film has unnoticeably passed Snakes Eye's total (¥11.3M) in two days, without any much difficulties. Actual from Fri-Sun: ¥4.2532M /¥8.8571M /¥7.5895M, giving us a opening weekend figures at ¥20.7M. First of all, it's immediate goal is to pass ¥40M while attempting a finishing line at ¥50M. Miscellaneous Update: Denis Villeneuve's Dune has approached a total of ¥244.8981M, concluding results at $39M. Japanese Film "Departure" settle at ¥60.8520M, while later difference will be at "K" rather than "M". Chinese Film "My Parents, My Homeland has added up to ¥1472.3193M until Sunday. As expected, finishing line at ¥1473M-¥1474M. Edited November 15, 2021 by Issac Newton 4

Issac Newton
Maoyan Pictures’ Chinese period mystery Be Someday put both the Rock and Bond to shame, opening solidly with $20 million. It was followed in second place by Edko Picture’s Anita, a biopic of the great Hong Kong Canto-pop star and screen icon Anita Mui, which debuted with $6.3 million. Chinese war epic The Battle of Lake Changjin, meanwhile, continued marching into the record books over a month and a half after its release, beating both Bond and Jungle Cruise with a $4.8. million-weekend haul, lifting its historic total to $882 million. Ongoing COVID-19 outbreaks in the country, which have shuttered a sizable minority slice of cinemas in as many as 50 cities, are also taking a toll on ticket sales. Reflecting the increasingly dire distribution difficulties for Hollywood in China, no major U.S. studio title is currently scheduled for an upcoming release in the country. But, in general, a film which has already been released in North America, will release earlier in Mainland, rather than one which is going to release on North America. At present, as mentioned by Gavin, at first, Escape Room 2, then Venom 2 & finally No Way Home.

(We are not going to lose to Wolf Warrior 2). Imported Films NTTD will pass $61M by the end of Sunday. Seems stable, so we can try $65M+ as finals. Jungle Cruise is blowing me despite of piracy &poor pre-sale, yet we can expect $6M+ as finals. Finally, Dune will stop it's train at $39M. 2

Momori
I have a question, when movies have no release date set in China, on Douban, it usually only states the year. For example, VenomLTBC: Or Eternals:(Most likely not releasing there anyways but just wanted to make a point) But why does for Spider-Man: No Way Home it states a month too? --> Edited November 19, 2021 by Momori

Two new works opened among the 🔝 5, Door Lock &Railway Heroes. Door Lock appeared on the first place with ¥40M approximately including previews from previous day. Will try a opening weekend of ¥120M+ &possibly ¥150M. Be Somebody dropped to second, has so far added ¥261M+ , will pass ¥300M by the end of this weekend. Now, I am expecting a finals of ¥500M. Railway Heroes has opened third. Despite having a little higher previews numbers, yet opened below Door Lock. Possibly will try ¥60M-¥70M opening weekend. The Battle At Lake Changjin is yet to dry out but will certainly pass ¥5670M by the end of this weekend, well the difference to Wolf Warrior 2 will be reduced to ¥24M, but drops on Monday will be interesting to watch. Imported Films: Daniel Craig's NTTD has dropped to sixth, still added some fuel. Will possibly try to end weekend with a total nearing ¥390M. Denis Villeneuve's Dune stands at 8th, adding ¥400K, cumulative total will soon pass ¥248M by the end of this weekend but somehow will be standing at ¥250M as finals. The Rock's Jungle Cruise will end Sunday with cumulative total, passing $5M. 1
