SchumacherFTW
not equals cz12, Jttw will fly pass cz12. I didn't mean JTTW would match CZ12, i was responding to POLYLOVE's belief that Les Miserables, Jack Reacher and The Hobbit combined would match CZ12. A Marvel Fanboy
Local movies are accounting for 70%+ in first 45 days of 2013 at the moment while foreign movies declined in gross. Overall it is increasing by 40%+ so far compared with 2012. Don't see how local movies share fall below 60% in 2013 at any point.Even though Jttw is heading to $200m, it won't be the #1 movie of 2013. While most likely no $100m foreign films this year. 7 of top 10 this year could be local films, or more.
A Marvel Fanboy
Foreign movies took in 8.7b (by my rough memory) yuan in 2012. Without titanic this year, the number could decline the first time in past 10 years. With 2013 total box office targeting at 20b yuan, a 120/80 local/foreign market share split is very possible. POLYLOVE
Don't be that optimistic. As big local movies always being released in winter, other seasons Hollywood movies will rule them all. But I always think China will ultimately follow Korea and Japan's tastes. Local culture in East Asia will remain strong.
POLYLOVE
Too bad none of those movies benefiting are from Hollywood. Stupid Chinese limits and shitty scheduling. Maybe China will clear all limits on releasing foriegn movies in 2017 as a promise of joining WTO.

A Marvel Fanboy
Jttw beating TF3 single day record is the first time since 2006 the daily record comes back to a local film.
iceroll
doesnot really matter.Hollywood is being dumbed by Chinese audience. Skyfall + hobbit = half of Jttw ... Yeah that's because they schedule them months after they've been released everywhere else in the world and give them screentime for 2 weeks before taking away 95% of screens.

A Marvel Fanboy
Yeah that's because they schedule them months after they've been released everywhere else in the world and give them screentime for 2 weeks before taking away 95% of screens.some movies were delayed longer but still did great. As for the screen counts, that happens to every movie if it is not holding great.Underperforming is underperforming. It may could have done better if released in better conditions but won't do significant better. Since it was not great liked by GA. Released any time, result not much difference.
