A Marvel Fanboy
On the other hand....Columbia pictures had a terrible day in China....I saw many ads of Django in public places which they might have put a lot of money on. They spent several millions yuan on the promoting and now all gone ...
fmpro
I see this: 30+28+25+22+27+35+29=200M $32M full opening week or so With 1.7x, 350M $56M finish. That would be a great number
A Marvel Fanboy
China really is the back garden of Hasbro productions, just like Russia to Dreamworks Animations, and I know Hasbro toys also sell very well in China: TF1 -------- $38M --------- 2007 ---------- #1 GIJ1 -------- $20M --------- 2009 ---------- #11 TF2 -------- $62M --------- 2009 ---------- #2 TF3 -------- $174M --------- 2011 ---------- #1 Battleship ---- $48M --------- 2012 ---------- #15 GIJ2 -------- $50M+ --------- 2013 ---------- #15 (?)

Alex Bennett
Monday's number: 3100+MIDNIGHT 200 = 3300 ($5.3m) That's spectacular! Tuesday will be making more money as a half-price day.
A Marvel Fanboy
Very similar to Skyfall. Expecting similar opening week and similar finial gross. Monday's number: 3100+MIDNIGHT 200 = 3300 ($5.3m) That's spectacular! Tuesday will be making more money as a half-price day. It is just doing what A-list Hollywood blockbusters all should have been doing. In other words, GIJ2 is not a breakout, doing on par with Battleship with 3D. A Marvel Fanboy
China's Box Office to Reach 1 Billion US$ in Record Time for the Fourth Time in Row China's overall 2013 box office is expected to cross 1B US$ on this coming Friday (April 19th), which marks the milestone to be achived four consecutive years in a row at a record time. Last year the same milestone was made on May 25th, more than one month longer than it takes this year. Through the first 100 days of 2013 (January 1 to April 10) ,the ever booming Chinese box office market saw a total of 57.28B yuan input,a roughly 40% year-to-date increase, with 69% of which generated by local Chinese films while foreign releases took in a miserable $270M in total. And with the encouraging Paramount debut of G.I. Joe: Retaliation on April 15, the country's overal box office is projected to land over 63.55B yuan or 1.02B US$ by the coming Sunday (April 21). It is also noted that the number of total active screens in Chinese cinemas has crossed 15000 in early April, of which more than 12,000 is 2K digital, 10,000 is 3D and 110 is IMAX.
