Thought TDW could catch up with MoS by Sunday and hit 290m. Now it will be 270m. With CF/G coming next week, it looks TDW should finish around a 330m $54m total. 

 

Now Gravity has a good chance to do more than TDW.

 

James Cameron's name is printed on top of Gravity theatrical posters and more than twice as large as Cuaron's name. Many people already mistakes Cameron as the director of Gravity and say they need to watch it... Lol.

 

About online buzz.

Generally: foreign films trend to have more buzz than local ones on online ticket booking sites and movie communities; stars from local films trend to have way more buzz than foreign ones on social medias; Fanboy driven films have more online buzz than walk-up movies.

 

For example, Escape Plan has much bigger proportion of walk-ups than TDW, Gravity bigger proportion than CF. 

 

Also as mentioned before, local movies do better than Hollywood movies on workdays and in small cities but have softer weekend jumps.

To me, TDW China revenue is beyond luck. I was predicting $30M-$35M. To actually earn more than $50M is a gift to Marvel.
